Dragonsmettle
Yeah so i went to the doctor recently and got all kinds of blood tests and stuff. The thing that freaked me out is they just sent the results to me in the mail with a note saying "need to watch your Liver." Any idea what the hells up? I dont drink near as often as most people and im drug free. Do i need to give up my hookah? Figure ill go in there soon and talk to the doctor to see exactly whats wrong but you figure the dude would be a bit more descriptive.
Geiseric
Define not as much. Constant drinking will affect your liver... but then.. many things can. As to smoking... I have never even heard of nicotine cuasing liver problems... but then... if your are really worried about your health... there is this thing called cancer.. you may have heard of it. Smoking isn't healthy. It should be done in moderation. If you have worries about you health, do something about it. I know I smoke more than I should... and I'll get around to that.... someday... I don't have a problem! (looks back and forth nervously)
r1v3th3ad
any "drug" is processed by your liver, including tobacco...depends really on your system in general and family/personal medical history. I'd say to play it safe, cut your smoking and drinking in half until more is known through doctors. With the liver, it can be a number of things...not to scare you, but I have a buddy who has no liver problems in his family history, yet needed and got one as of recent...he is 19. Do you take vitamins, they are processed there too, if you take a lot, they can cause troubles there. Many things can cause this, it can be the the shish, but that might be if you are a chronic smoker, I don't know. Don't go to blame it yet, doctors may not always know all or whats best, but they do have the facts 9/10 to speculate. Please keep us, or at least me updated bro, I'll find out what I can, and any details you can share openly, or even in pm, comfortably let me know. My mom was a home care nurse for over 30yrs plus hospital experience and her current management position... anything you can provide, she is more than likely to make a few predictions from. My dad is a health nut in the nutritional vitamin aspects, he could be useful in those aspects.I'll be hoping for the best for ya and will be doing a pagan health charm for ya.Take care man Edited January 17, 2008 by r1v3th3ad
Geiseric
While I understand what you are saying.. as in regard to your blood being processed by your liver, and nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream.. but what I am saying is that I have never heard of it having ill affects on said organ. A quick search yields that it can, in fact, be bad for your liver (including increase ill effects on liver due to alcohol consumption)... but it isn't something you hear of often, or at least I have. Could be the shisha... but as mister 1337(sorry mate, its dead, let it die in peace) here says, don't jump to conclusions. I'd cut out drinking completely... but that it just my priorities speaking. Spend some time researching the issue. Edited January 17, 2008 by Geiseric

Dr. Atkins
1.) Find the source of the problem through process of elimination, assuming it's not purely genetics.2.) Take N-acetyl-cysteine, milk thistle (standardized for silymarin), and alpha lipoic acid.3.) What medications, if any, are you taking?4.) I'm not a doctor, so take my advice with a grain of salt. cassinho
You can fuck up your liver or your kidneys pretty much by taking wrong medication and mixing them with alcohol.Actually some headache, cold, etc medication are a really bad idea to take after a night of drinking, also painkillers

Im gonna try and get an appointment next week to see the doctor.as for medicine, i dont usually get sick so dont have much use for the stuff. The rare times i do get sick (like a cold or flu) i dont drink for about 1-2 weeks after my last dose of medicine.
