Wow this place is like the tower of Babel wink.gif

Actually, it would make some sense, depending on just what drew people to enjoying a hookah. I am just amazed we don't see more middle eastern languages.

I dont think most of the middle eastern ppl would be hooked up in a hookah forum, it's like a drinking water forum for them i think haha

You must not have understood his question. A language isolate is a language without a direct relationship to or descent from common ancestor of other languages. Armenian, I believe, is sometimes considered an Indo-European isolate. Basque is a good example of a true language isolate.

Ooooh, Basque is crazy. Went to the Pais Vasco for 10 days last summer and it was v. confusing, esp. after spending almost two months in the rest of Spain. Sounds interesting though...

I'm quite fluent in English, and I can get along well enough in Slovak and Spanish too. I plan on studying Russian and Brazilian Portuguese next.

Slovak? Ako?! Living in Prague you can't avoid having Slovakian friends (they are generally much more outgoing and friendlier than the Czechs), so I picked up a few words, like 'drevo kocour' and 'do videnya' and paradiky etc.

I speak English native, basic German, French, a little Spanish, a little Russian, and enough Czech to get by in most any situation. But Czech, Jesus in heaven, it's a tough language, especially the grammar. Having a Czech wife helps though wink.gif
