SafeSearchOff
So lately to clean my hookahs i've been using Listering (cool mint) and hot water, it works pretty nicely.what i was wondering is this:what do you chemists out there think would happen if i added hydrogen peroxide to this concoction? H2O2 is an incredibly good disinfectant and cleaner, but would it react with the Listerine? Im not sure as to the pH of either, so im kinda scared to mix them ATM.what are your htoughts? MechAnt
Well the listerine works well because of the alcohol in it. This is why I use a shot of vodka or whatever when I clean my pipe and it works like a dream.

SafeSearchOff
yeah the reason ive been using listerine is b/c eric reccomended alcohol a while back, and i dont feel like wasting beer or vodka, thats for drinking. wat i wanted to know is would hte H2O2 react negatively with hte listerine.and yes, the listerine does get rid of smells! I can buy a half-gallon of the most disgusting tequila I've ever had at the local liquor store for approx $10.

SafeSearchOff
i used to use normal dish soap, but it does nothing for hte smell. everyone praises lemon juice, but it also never killed the smell for me and was a pain.listerine - buy in bulk at costco, makes my hookah smell like mint... its great
justoffthecoast
i've always used hot water with my brush kit and it works pretty good, will have to try listerine though. i don't have a problem getting the smell out of the base, but it tends to linger in the stem even after scrubbing (though i'm due for a new brush). manic007
I use vingear, it sounds weird, but it works like a treat! You dont need much, about 2 capfuls down the stem, and a pipe-cleaning brush. And incase your thinking "what about the smell!" well thats the good news, if you wash it through with water there is none! I kid you not! And vinegar is dirt cheap. Try it.
