Having A Hookah Of An Issue

Recommended Posts

So im having a little difficulty with my first hookah. i have had it for about a year with no problems until a few months ago when an overly drunken (ex)freind made a big scene by waving the disconnected base and procceding to drop said base causing commotion and resulting in a replaced base. Well this base is just a tad to large for the rubber seal on the body of the hookah. I usually just wrap a little tinfoil around the seal which sometimes works excellently but other times leaks air. I was wondering if anyone has had a similiar experience or has any notable and permanent solutions.

Thanks for your time,

Jess

What kind of hookah? Any name brand? Remember where you got it from?

Take your whole apparatus to a local shisha store and get a grommet that will accomodate both (ie., base and stem). Test whether it's free by covering the top part of the stem as well as the hose port.

Or electrical tape.

Amendment: don't wrap the electrical tape around the grommet, or you'll just have a whole new set of problems. Wrap it instead around the metal that the grommet slips onto, then slip the grommet over the electrical tape. If it's a tight fit use olive oil.

Hookah Company has these stretchy grommets from Mya that you layer one on top of the other until you get a perfect fit. They recommend three for a medium base, four for a large. www.hookahcompany.com I've heard they work great and plan on ordering some myself just to have for future use. I also had to replace a base and got lucky because I had a "finned" grommet around that works perfectly. I doubt I'll be so lucky again, so I figured I'd buy a few of the stretchy ones to have against future mishaps.

I had to do this to one of my pipes. It works wonders. wink.gif
