Recommended Posts

Doesn't matter to me...I throw all of my Tangiers in the dish washer before smoking anyway.

I am working on it, it is true. We're close to mastering the art of it, we had to design a separate step for redrying to prevent mold growth. To this date, Tangiers has never sold washed tobacco under the Tangiers name...except for a short run for a retailer using a washed foundation.

FYI: Tobacco isn't washed or cleaned in any way, like the tobacco in cigarettes or cigars...or in Tangiers. Once its out of the ground, its dirty and not apologizing for it. They usually like "dust it" but they don't wash it for that very reason...it would wash nicotine away. Thats why also on those signs in the bathroom that say "Wash your Hands after...taking a shit, before handling food, after smoking..." Because tobacco is dirty...those signs haven't changed in 30 years...since I've been alive...even when smoking was still popular.

A. They probably still have some small amount of nicotine in.

B. Oxygen Deprivation.

C. Carbon monoxide poisoning.

Those are the three reasons you can still get a buzz from a washed tobacco...might be more...those three are big though. People at my lounge NEVER get drowsy from smoking Tangiers...nicotine is a stimulant and carbon monoxide is a depressant. We only use Japanese coals to minimize carbon monoxide production. Drowsy is usually a blend of too little sleep, not much nicotine and good amounts of carbon monoxide.

I've never seen a bug, since most bugs despise the smell of nicotine (it is used as a safer pesticide...and to assassinate people, too...true). We do pick out small amounts of stuff that looks like hair (which is corn silk), also, straw, hay, grass, burlap strings, wheat tops, oat tops, corn husk (could be sorghum, I suppose, too) sometimes woody pieces that could be from low on the tobacco leaf/plant, but might be wood. Once I found a nickel and another time I found a pecan. Tobacco is often put down inside barns for drying and whatever was on the barn floor will get mixed into the tobacco. Edited by Sonthert

No, not necessarily. Its a matter of how used to something you are, like caffeine...the body produces a tolerance for many chemicals. I might get buzzed after a quad espresso drink, you might get buzzed after a half of a can of coke, you won't die from drinking a quad espresso. I think. Actually, I don't know. Best not to chance it. smile.gif
