chromecarz00
If i understand hookah correctly, then it filters air. RIght? So theoretically, if I am doing something that needs extra filtration, such as painting, sanding, etc, could I use a hookah?
The Devils Playground
I guess in theory but that would probably not be as good as a real mask by anymeans. But would be interesting to see. lol

Geiseric
It isn't really that much of a filter. It does a little, but the smoke stays mostly intact. It just has a lot more surface contact with the water, because many bubbles have more surface area than say smoke just moving over the water. Whether or not anything is actually filtered through that extended contact... depends on who you are talking to. The WHO says nothing. I would be inclined to think some nicotine is definitely absorbed, as nicotine is soluble, but... who knows.JD.... Yeah, that was my initial reaction. But nothing really surprises me anymore. But what about particulate matter? (sand dust)? Once again just theoretical not for real...

EternalSoil
i actually used my hookah when working with chemicals here at the Aquarium that can kill you if you breathe them, worked great!i died for about 45 minutes but its all cool!but seriously, the only way you could get away with this is if you were smoking it out of billysoco's gas mask!half filtration cartridge, half hookah! ZenSilk
I'm sure it will filter out particles, as in dust or paint powder or drywall dust and whatnot. But i highly doubt volatile fumes would be filtered enough to be safe. After all, it's just water. It would grap partcles cause when they hit the water they'd become too dense for you to inhale all that way to your mouth. mushrat
I once did that...got disctracted while packing my bowl and was using screens at the time. came back, put coals on the screen, sat down with a beer to watch the race and noticed a real lack of smoke and taste, removed the coals and the screen, empty bowl. shisha fan
seems like a real bad, especially when you`re working with pain thinner and stuff like that. a mask will work way easier anyway.
