I Have A Couple Of Questions

hi everybody,

i am new to smoking the hookah. i smoked one for the first time last sunday. i thought it was cool and i think i am going to get one. the first question i have is about inhaling tin foil. i heard that it was very bad for your body to inhale tin foil fumes. do you guys think that holding the tin foil above a flame prior to putting a coal on would help to eliminate some of the fumes or chemicals in the tin foil. another question i have is about the mouthpieces that go on the hoses. i think it would be cool to get some different color mouthpieces, rather than just using clear ones. if anybody knows where i could buy these online that would be great if you could give me a link. the final question for anyone that has made there own hookah is: what do you think the best way to attach a clay bowl to a stainless steel pipe?

Use grommets. Same way you would in a normal hookah. I would say make a cone out of the end of the stainless pipe and use grommets, you dont wnat the bowl perm attached.

i dont know if coals burn hot enough to produce aluminum oxide, but if you are concerned you can buy a smiley's galss bowl and glass screen from hookahcompany.com for 22.95

The charcoals don't burn anywhere near hot enough to cause the tin foil to release toxic fumes, so there's no need to worry on that part at all. There's a vendor I saw that had colored metal mouthpieces.... but I can't seem to be able to remember where Regular ones are easy to find online though. As for attaching a bowl to a pipe, you just need a rubber grommet. Again, all the online sites will have these ("bowl grommets").

If you have your own hose though, and you know the people you're sharing it with, mouthpieces are overrated if you ask me...

as for the grommets there might be a Arabic food market or somewhere that sell hookahs that might be able to sell you one but until then you can use cloth, just take a piece wrap it tightly around where the grommet should go, then put the bowl on

Another alternative would be to wrap electrical tape in a sort of cone shape at the end of a pipe, wont be pretty and you might not want it permanently but it should do the trick

Honestly I'd just go for a fairly cheap acrylic hookah from either hookah-shisha.com or myasaray.com. If you only started smoking last sunday, I don't think building a hookah is the best idea. Just go for a fairly cheap acrylic, order some 3K quicklights, and some Al Fakher or Nakhla. Wait a few months until you have everything pretty much down and then spring for a glass Mya or a Khalil Mamoon. Get some Tangiers and some natural coals such as Stargates. It takes a while to get everything perfect, but that's what's fun about hookah. Good luck with everything.

Okay I will try to remember all the questions. #1 you are not talking the aluminum to a point where it should give off fumes, I will gp buy a bag of Colored Tips tomorrow I will put it on my list of hopping tomorrow for you. I will get you pics of them. I forget to carry colored ones so It`s a must do now.

Oh and dont follow the lemmings off the cliff. Mya is a great hookah, KM other then the Tri metal was not impressive. I have no named hookahs here that are basicly the same hookah with out a funny logo.

Everyone bashes on Chinese but for the budget and just getting in to it dude look at some chinese hookahs to keep budget down. I will gladly tell you if a hookah sucks even if its on a competitors site. I will also tell you if its good. I will not comment on price because that would not be fair. Just a heads up first hookah non choices. Gooza , Pumpkin if you can avoid it this includes the 2 hose apple one the gernade one and the Pineapple one, that cute little heart one is a dog we have it. It will get you laid but it will not satisyfy for long.

Dont but a small chinese press fit hookah either in 1 or 2 hose. Examples to look for are the Classic JR and Jeanie hookah both of their styles in a threaded top are cool but in a prerss fit are a disaster waiting to happen. Beer Pong + non threaded Hookah = Broken base/vase everytime.
