clickhea
i love to overload my hookah with ice cubes, would this have any effect on anything?
r1v3th3ad
it might possibly if you have replaced seals, otherwise it could with the vase/base...going from extreme cold with the really hot airflow coming down might break it. I don't know personally. I generally use cold liquids with a few cubes.

jfaltous
As long as you're not doing sudden changes in temperature, you wont have problems with breaking any vases or anything, so i wouldnt worry about that.. just dont go pulling your vase out of a hot dishwasher and dumping cold water and ice cubes in it The only problem with too many ice cubes comes when they block airflow, or block the stem from going into the vase (obviously). I put about a dozen cubes in my vase every time i refill it (about 1/3 to 1/2 to the waterline with ice cubes) and never have any problems. shisha fan
the base might break if you put in too much ice, thats all i can think of.
Lysolz
No such thing as too much ice.
MechAnt
A whole lot of ice will actually act sort of like a diffuser. The smoke will break up as it enters the hose port due to the ice cubes resulting in possibly smoother smoke.
SafeSearchOff
but i HAVE learned that too cold is bad thin...i.e. - one time i froze my base beforehand. then loaded it to the line where i normally fill it to with ice, and then just a tad water... and then put it in a bucket of snow. it got really harsh. that might be because i was still a bit of a noob then and used to burn my bows on occasion. i duno. Luke69
Another thing i can think of is the water line might go a bit too high when the ice melts. Possibly resulting in water up your hose, if ya know what i mean
Gold Wing Gunner
I usually fill my vase with ice untill it is at the level I fill it with water, then I just add water to the top of the ice, only problem I hav eever noticed was if you arent having much smoke the smoke cools really fast and tries to sit at teh botom ontop of the water. Sonthert
To answer the question literally..."Is There Such Thing As 2 Much Ice?"In my opinion, one cube or more is too much. Of course, I only smoke Tangiers, for the most part, and more nicotine will come out with ice, making it strange flavored and harsh. I tried it many times, as an experiment and ice makes it (Tangiers, specifically) smoke worse. Strangely, people think it makes the smoke smoother...which I've never understood...they sit down to smoke Tangiers and instantly put ice in to smooth it down and end up making it worse...Also, it promotes jar breakage...which I am strongly opposed to. I have a long, long historical opposition to breaking and cracking jars.

Voski
two much ice might make it hard to get the stem into the vase thats about all I can think of

Ive over packed the funnel like hell , tried all kinds of heat management..and nada... but Ive always had tons of ICE in the base. Maybe I'll try the tangiers chocolate mint this time with 0 ice....So far I cant smoke... (orange soda, chocolate mint, cocoa f-line) but never thoguht of water temp as my issue...ok another thing for me to do this weekend...

I've read that ice condenses the smoke, creating more volume, but at the expense of flavor and nicotine. I'd rather use warm water.

Mt. Yukon
Got one for you, I use crushed ice in the base, fill it almost to the top, leave a little room to get the stem in, NO WATER!!! Ive got a chiller so I fill up the bucket with ice then put water in it to keep the bucket cold. Thickest smoke Ive ever had.
