jeans_redux
I always make sure to use hot water with my bowl and really cold water with my base. That sucks about your QT though...

anddy
My QT base is wierd. It's really thick at some parts, particularly the middle of the base, but places, like all around the bottom edge, is so thin I'm scared it might shatter once I set it down on the table.I didnt realize how thin it was until I filled it with milk. If you want to see if your base has some really thin spot, then fill it with milk because it is a lot easier to see. EternalSoil
thats why i never take a hookah base that is room temp and put it in hot or cold water....i turn the water to about middle, then slowly go one way or the other so the glass heats up slowly..not super slow, but enough to keep the temp change from being too drastic.. Codename067
You put hot water and this happened?Sucks, but pretty lame, I always wash my base with hot water, and this kind of thing is unexpected. It shouldn't happen.Buy an Egyptian and never worry about that problem again.
Perrj99
That really sucks. My Syrian has a monster of a base...that thing is solid. I could probably take it out of the freezer and add boiling water to it...not that I plan on testing that idea out. lol
EternalSoil
the most likely thing to break glass as far as heating and cooling would be that the glass is heated up (like with hot water) then cooled down very quickly (cold water). happens when you take a hot glass cooking thing (ceramic too i think) out of the oven or microwave, then put it in cold water or run cold water on it. you have to let it cool down on its own or change the temp of the water slowly! mushrat
you can order a replacement base from Mya.
waterboi
That really sucks. That is a bummer. I have been lucky so far with my Mya's but my syrians could probably with stand a drop from my hands and just bounce. I usually turn my water on medium when I wash them out. Just order a new one from MYA.

manic007
That sucks big time (no pun intended). I've got a QT and I've noticed that on one side of the base the joint between the bottom and sides is wafer thin, like you can barely see it! But on the other side its nice and thick. The glass is really badly formed. I recon theres a market for decent QT bases, I'd buy one!
