Ralleac
I noticed this a week or so back while I was cleaning my KM, but didn't think much of it. I can hear water moving around in the stem. I held the stem upside down tonight while gently shaking it, and black liquid started leaking out of an imperceivable crack that's hidden under the grommet where the bowl would normally rest. I shook as much of the liquid out as I could, and left it hanging so the rest can leak out on it's own.Can this eventually have an effect on the integrity of the pipe? The crack isn't in an area where it would mess with the flavor of smoke, but I'd imagine that water can do a decent amount of damage over time inside the frame of the pipe. Johnny_D
It's probably a rather unpleasant mixture of tobacco juice and water from where you may have washed the stem.It might cause a problem with rusting from the inside out, however if it's a brass core you should be ok.. maybe.Just a minor flaw that may or maynot create a problem. Not sure what can be done about it though.JD
Snoopy1966
I have the same problem with my Egyptian, is this what you mean?http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=16075&hl=I have not got any liquid into them stem yet. I think over time it may give bad results if liquid and shisha juices get inside. I really do not know for sure but that is my opinion.JD is correct, if it is brass no problems. Ralleac
I'm not sure if it is brass cored or not. I'm not sure how I'd check on that, although the area surrounding the purge valve looks kind of like brass (as shown in the photo.) The liquid is coming out of the crack I drew the red dots along. I was thinking of getting one just to have around in case something were to go awry. It's a KM I bought locally, which might make finding a replacement stem kind of difficult. If something does go wrong, hopefully it'll be a few months from now when I won't feel guilty about spending $100 or so on another hookah.
