Glassjaw
I'd venture to say it is the tobacco. It burnt my mouth as well.
Canon
im saying its the water level, either you have a very short stem or you didnt put enough water in.
ZenSilk
phunnels tend to overheat, especially when using a windcover. You will always get warm/hot smoke when using a windcover, 2/4 exotica, and a phunnel. Hookahs with brass stems tend to stay a slight bit cooler over all. Canon
its not the stem that cools the smoke, its the water.
jester589
It may be the tobacco...I got an spicy kind of heat out of it though, if thats what you were talking about....Did not enjoy it very much
Perrj99
Assuming you mean a spicy kind of heat...as others have stated...it is probably the tobacco. I'd like to give that a try lol...

Hookahs with brass stems tend to stay a slight bit cooler over all.I am going to have to disagree with that statement I use a wind cover with my phunnel all the time and the smoke is nice and cool. Could be due to the fact that I have a hookah on the larger side.
zeppyrkr
it was on my qt, it was more of a spicy hot but it was warmer then other smokes before ...

zeppyrkr
so no wind cover with the phunnel i just use it for a few minutes, seems to get it going faster ... ?
ZenSilk
Using the windcover to build up heat in the beginning works very well. That's a good idea.
zeppyrkr
yeah thats what i was told and thats what i did, so ive come to the conclusion its the tobacco, but tonight ill give another flavor a go and see if its better.seems other people have had the same problem as me so seems like its the tobacco, which i hope it is because i kinda tossed it. just looking at it made me want to vomit. DrShisha
Ohhhhh that watermelon neal gave. was RANK. But fairplay to the guy respect, he shipped it on his money right accross the pond (legend) but being honest i would rather smoke my balls than that.Im good with most things but dont worry fella, its just that product wasnt good so try something easy going like al fakher or starbuzz and youl be progressing just fine and you wont need to worry much about heat etc. After you feel your doing well not, then try tangiers, nakhla etc the nicotine stuff which does need a bit of coal management. Dont worry i had the watermelon and i know what you mean. Edited January 27, 2008 by DrShisha
ZenSilk
Damn, it was pretty good IMO. it had a different seperate taste i can't place my finger on, but i could for sure get the Watermelon. Huh..Actually, when it was burning it tasted terrible, and it burned very easily until i figured out how to actually smoke King Moassel. Codename067
From personal experience, I will tell you that the heat is caused by the temperature of your stem more than anything else.I once had lots of charcoals sitting on my plate [ice chamber right under], and I did not have any ice in my chamber that time. Slowly, the stem started getting really warm from the charcoals sitting on the plate. The stem was really warm almost a foot down from the opening of the stem on top. I took the coals off the plates right away, added ice, and the smoke temperature was back to normal. as it should be.
mathuv
hmm..any tips on smoking king moassel? i got this sample yesterday, neal is a legend...shipping it all the way to malta..took 10 days to arrive too im out of good coals and i couldnt smoke it at the hookah lounge cos it was too wet, it would drip into the water.. im gonna try later on with my bad coals, hopefully it wont suck
