ioannisds
I decided to pick up one of these little guys from Social Smoke, as I wanted something more portable than my other hookahs. It is their Junior Modern hookah. http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/junior.jpg Customer service/shipping time/online help were all phenomenal, as usual, from Ali, Abrahim, and the gang. I must say that I was a tiny bit worried about buying a Chinese hookah, as I have heard a few horror stories about quality problems. I decided the hookah was inexpensive enough that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't cry about it later. Well, those worries have been forgotten. I have to say that the quality and build of this little guy is excellent. The whole thing breaks down into pieces: http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/pieces.j...isds/pieces.jpg://http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/j.../pieces.jpg://http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/j.../pieces.jpg that fit very nicely into a hard case, which has a footprint smaller than a sheet of paper. I paid a little extra for the case, and for the nicer hose as well. ]http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/case.jpg://http://home.usamedia.tv/ioannisds/p...ds/case.jpg I loaded the hookah up with a bowl of the ol' stand-by (EN double apple) to see how well it smoked. I was actually quite impressed. Smoke thickness was great, and volume was also good (though not as good as my other machines with bigger bases/stems). Flavor was excellent as well. All in all a great-smoking little hookah. My only complaint is the combination of the size of the bowl matched with the ash tray. The bowl is quite large, and the tray is small, so you have to kinda sneak the coals between the two to knock any ash off. I ended up with some ash on the floor because of this. I love the big trays on the larger hookahs, where you can just pick up the coal and drop it right down to get rid of excess ash. This is not really a problem with the hookah at all, as to make the tray any bigger would have made it look out of proportion. Just be careful and you should be fine. I got the hookah, the case, the upgraded (I am assuming it is a Mya) hose, and a 100 piece box of Three Kings for $54.50. Not sure how many of you know this, but if you use the coupon code "hookahforum" when you check out at Social Smoke, they give you a discounted price on your order. The color combination which I purchased (green, with gold stem) was also already discounted $10 off the normal price of the Junior Modern hookah. If you want something very portable, which smokes well and does not break the bank at all, you can't go wrong with this setup.
ioannisds
Oh, I forgot. For that price, I also got a charcoal tray (for getting your coals going outside the house), and the freebies that come with Social Smoke's hookahs as well (screen, tongs, 2 rolls of Three Kings, and two 50g boxes of Al-Waha). brother812
i have the red and gold combo. it is a sultan brand hookah and yea they are decent machines. the grommet that fits into the base is a bit iffy and the grommet for the bowl is made from a silicon base so when it heats up the bowl comes off a bit to easy but other than that i have had no problems. i use mine daily. my other 2 machines are 34" and 36" and when i am smoking them they sit beside me at my desk only problem is my ferret tries to push it over so i spend more time shooing her away than anything. so i use the sultan it sits on my desk away from the little one and gives me a good smoke about the same as my other 2 machines.
