Ok so I had just got done smoking a bowl of tangiers, and I was craving more so I looked at my collection of flavors, and I thought I need something new. So I go outside get in my car and drive 15 min to the hookah lounge I usually buy from. I get there and they say oh um all we have enough for sale right now is Pineapple and Double apple. So I said, ill try the pineapple. She walks away and comes back with a 250 of AF Pineapple and says "that will be 14.95" and im like cool and I hand her my card. She look at me like im an idiot and says "um our credit card machine dosnt work right now."

I do not carry cash, and this happens so very very often to me. are all hookah lounges like this? because theirs breaks about 3 times a week and it takes 2-3 days to fix it. But then I drove around to some other local shops, but they were all closed which dosnt make sense to me being that it was about 10PM.

so I came home empty handed, and I am probly going to put in an order at H-S but im not sure what yet.

lame...

Yeah I don't carry cash either, just my debit, and it does happen occasionally. But it is very strange that she refused you service, most places will simply fill out a manual form to withdraw the money on such an occasion. I know my manager always would, back in high school when I worked as a clerk. Maybe things have changed over the years. Seems things would be more card-friendly now that everybody and their mother has a debit card. Edited by Geiseric

Only in USA biggrin.gif *lol*

Here almost everybody uses cards, and broken machines is almost unknown problem. They have like 2-15 machines depending on size of store. But, of course, banking & money systems in USA are littlebit older fashion than in scandinavia. We dont use cheque's or things like that. Just internet banking & cards, and of course cash ATM.

I never carry cash, I'm a plastic man. The only time I ever had a problem with a place not having their machine working was when I got my truck's oil changed in November. But she had a backup in the form of the old style swipe machines. No problem at all. Seems like in this day and age every place should have working credit card processors or a backup plan. dodgy.gif

Yeah the only cash I tend to carry around is what I make off tips, but that goes right back into beer. For the most part though, I'm definitely a plastic kinda guy.

Every single credit card can be input manually over the phone just by calling into Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc. They all have numbers for when the electronic machines go down. She was either lazy or misinformed by her manager.

not many places even HAVE the old manual slips or machines anymore. I know if mine breaks, I'm screwed.

Nope, Mush. Just get the call in phone numbers. They'll do it over the phone for you and send you blanks for manual input. Been there, done that, many a time.

you know who completely ABUSE credit cards? asians. im not even being racist or joking.

i work at a movie theatre, a few months ago we got "Lust, Caution" the new Ang Lee film. Its in chinese, so we got a HUGE asian turnout. seriously 9 in 10 people payed with credit cards. I have to close out hte machine every night, and my boss says statistically during Lust Caution, credit card sales were up 80%.

That is funny because stat. Asians have very good credit. So I do not think it is abuse just more of an understanding.

Yeah one time I was there and the same stupid chick was working the counter and said it was broken so I reseted it for her and it worked fine, but she wont let me anymore. She is an idiot, there are about 7 workers there and I love every one of them except her, she is lazy and if you order a flavor she dosnt like she will tell you its bad and tell you to get another flavor! it really pisses me off, but I think she is the owners daughter sad.gif I talked to him one time, and he said yeah ill talk to her.

But dont worry I always pay it off, im trying to build credit right now so I use my credit card until it maxes out, then I immediately pay it off in full, my credit limit eventually went from 500 to 750 on it, but I still only put about 400 on it then I pay it off. I think its helping my credit score smile.gif
