gr!m
I just got a new Egyptian and I seem to be getting some very little water drops in the hose from condensation. Apparentley it's not over filled because I made a post pertaining to the water and everyone seemed to think my setup was fine. ...On to the idea.OK, I have a nice coffee maker and place right on top of the filter goes one of those flat circular water filters with natural water filter charcoal in it. I though it may be possible to cut a small piece of it and sew the end shut and place it around the entrance of the hose. This could possibly be enough to weed out and water droplets from entering. Any thoughts?Another quick question for you veterans. Could these very small bits of water be dangerous. Do you think you would inhale them without noticing or would you choke on them. I'm just tryng to be as safe as possible while slowly killing myself! This is the only thing I've ever gotten into as far as smoking goes besides the once in a while (every few months) cigar as a celebration. garykainz
that might work. so long as you don't use the charcoal... imagine inhaling bits of charcoal... blech!but it might also effect your smoke a bunch too, i think it would make your draw harder, and reduce your cloud size.but it couldn't hurt to try it man. let us know! SafeSearchOff
you might find that it also would be black at the end of the seshions - filtering a bit more nic. and tar.only time will tell. gary is onto something with the cloud size and draw as wel... gr!m
I'm just curious about any dangers with the water coming up. Granted it's water, but it tastes awful (super concentrated whatever flavor is in the bowl). Also how I can try to fix this. I just don't know where in the world the water is coming from. If nothing works I my just order a new stem online.ninja'd: I may just try warmer water, maybe then I wont get condensation.Call me a hypocondriac, it's OK, but I did a little reading on the effects of water inhalation. It seems to be I'd have to inhale 6 pints of water to dry drown or inhale water with the bacteria that cause "Legionaires Disease" a type of pnumonia found in south america. I think I will be OK lol. Please excuse my typos, I'm not a doctor and it's too late to bother with a dictionary. Edited January 28, 2008 by gr!m

gr!m
I thought this deserved a separate reply. I came up with an interesting product idea for Hookah nooblets like myself!Imagine a small ring (slightly smaller than the thinnest diameter of you base) that would fit on to your stem about 3 inches above normal water level. This ring would be a flexible natural rubber. The right would have an inner ring around your stem and an outer ring with connecting supports. In between these supports would be a thin, very very breathable "splash guard". Think almost cheese cloth but not as fine, just fine enough to protect against splashes.I think this would be a good thing to create for water problems pertaining to splashing or similar. Give me your feedback and I'll craft up a mockup in 3d.Ninja Edit: On an aside, I was debating the effects of the purposed inhaled water possibilities. You inhale steam on a regular basis, water is harmless in small amounts. Another thing, this water is normal H20 with only the possible of additions of nicotine, sugar, and other 'natural' ingredients in the shisha. Mostly harmless, and wow am I paranoid. gaia.plateau
I recommend just getting a washable hose... The condensation is perfectly fine for your health, but it can rust/erode your hose, especially if you don't blow it out properly after each session. EternalSoil
if its just little bits of water in the hose and your not like sucking a straw you will be fine as far as the water goes...i would be more worried about the rust after a while
Voski
try using a diffuser or don't use as much force to suck up maybe your making so many bubbles its getting pulled threw the hose? I know with my friends hookah if you suck hard enough you can see water splashing up into the heart.
Johnny_D
I'm with Gaia... Just get a washable hose and learn to manage your water levels. I've never had 'splashing' into the hose!!!!JD
Sonthert
If you have an open bell type hookah, little bits of water splashing up into the hose aren't that uncommon. If you flip the shank upside down, you can see the hose port connected to the bell from the inside. Either way, less water is called for.
gr!m
Yeah it's a bell shaped bottom and it's a very very tiny amount of water, maybe a few droplets the size of a rain drop. It just tastes bad, thanks for everyones feedback.
