Corona
Anyone ever use washable hoses?? What are the pros and cons on these badboys? Also.. whats the best way to clean an unwashable hose?
[LB]
i didnt know there was such thing as an 'unwashable' hose. I guess mine is washable, because the water doesent soak too bad, but what i suggest doing is running some water through it, blow through the mouth tip, and then with the mouth tip facing up hang it on something, like your shower cutrain, and let it drip for a few hours or something. DO NOT SUCK on the hose through this entire process or youll get a mouthfull or brown, powdery water that tastles like sh*t. The other day i put too much milk into my hose and i got milk in my mouth while smoking.
jmexx
Well you get brown stuff coming out because you don't have a washable hose, the difference between the two is that the unwashable hoses have metal coils instead of plastic so when washed, it rusts. I have washable hoses and love them. They're great to clean, they smoke great and I have NO problems with my hoses. They're much cleaner then the traditional hoses. Just my 2 cents.Jon

Corona
The poor bastard got a mouth full of rusty milk!!! It would be great if you could get some of the nice hoses, like the cobra in a washable material..
Soup
I hear a lot of talk about the Mya washable hoses. Sure they're great for washability but they look terrible. I'd much rather have a non-washable than a plastic slurpee straw.
jmexx
Plastic slurpee straw? I actually like the discrete sexy look of my hose, nice wooden handle, discreet colours, comfortable metal tip.Mmmm...Happy smoking!Jon
cypress
I have 3 mya hoses for my 3 hookahs. They are the best. For 10 bucks you cant beat that. There is no brown crap that comes out. I have only washed them once in the last 9 months. I recomend them to everyone in the forum.
Corona
Mya hoses? Any recommendations on where to get them? And as far as looks go for hoses, the wife makes a badass hose cover out of black or any color crushed velvet... gives it a very sexy look.. Lakemonster
I found a trick to cleaning my washeable hoses. I use a graphite rifle cleaning rod with a nylon bristle .270 caliber cleaning jag. This allows you to SCRUB the inside of the hose. mushrat
Lake: thats funny, DJ and I discussed something like a rifle cleaning rod, or an old cleaning pll through cord I love you've figured out the right caliber! For cleaning my washable i use lemon juice concentrate first. pour a good amount into the hose, thumb both ends and swish it back and forth, drain, rinse, repeat. The i go outside and swing the hose like a lasso to get out excess water, then hang to dry. Lemon taste is out of it very quickly.
Soup
Brad, those hoses are completely different to what I saw, albeit not from the mya website. What I saw were full plastic, it looked like it was mold poured. I guess I have to retract my prevous statement.

thegreengoblin707
Hi guys: my hookah arrives tomorrow. I want to know if the hose included with it (as you see it) is washeable. I checked hookah company's web page for Egyptian hoses and no mention was made about it being washable. Anyone know? If it is not washeable - I'll eventually get a Nammor hose later on. http://www.hookahcompany.com/steel_blue_hookah_1808_prd1.htm Edited October 16, 2007 by thegreengoblin707

Thanks for your input. Yeah, I decided to search and use old threads rather than make a new thread just for one question. Thanks again.I strongly advocate spending the money to get an excellent washable hose. Cups and cups of tar that gather in unwashable hoses and greatly take away from the smoking experience will go into your lungs for absolutely no reason. To minimize unnecessary health hazard (and a washeable hose is a BIG improvement) - even $20 for a Nammor hose is trivial. I intend on smoking very occasionally so the Nammor can come in later.
