mushrat
So I have a 50 pound shipment coming from tangiers. He sends it out via fed ex. Iwait, I wait, I call Eric. He goives me the tracking number. Seems that it is showing in the tracking computer as "shipment refused" "damaged" "return to sender".I'm like huh? So i ask the 1-800 customer service wtf? They say the driver attempted deliver on the 22nd, at 2:45 and that the shipment was refused. Also it was noted as damaged. I asked who signed it and they say it looks like DLane. I explain that 1) i don't open til after 3, so they didn't deliver it to ME. 2) I have no one here by that name, and 3) I want my damn shipment. The I ask the driver's name. D. Lancaster. Ahh so it appears that not only did Fed-EX damage my shipment, but the driver signed on my behalf to refuse the shipment and now its back in San Diego.Needless to say the guy in the local terminal is like..um..this isn;t supposed to work this way, ewe'll look into it, sorry about the problem, we'll get it worked out. I am going fine, but youd better bring me the head of the driver while you are at it.So we are now waiting for Eric to get the returned shipment, see how bad the damage is, see what he has to replace, then contact me and fed-ex who is going to pay for overnight shipping on what's left of my order. So, in case you haven't read it before, stay the fuck away from Fed-Ex if you want to get your package on time, undamaged, and generally un screwed up. spoolinspoon
Sounds like the driver damaged it and sign it so it could be returned to sender. Trying to hide his screw up.
camelflage
thats crazy shit.. man my parents were just telling me a similar story. they bought a new couch and it was delivered on saturday. as they were un-wrapping it my dad notices its not the right couch, so he grabs the pillow from the couch they bought to prove it. turns out some dude in the warehouse drove a forklift through my parents couch, then took the tag off and slapped it on another couch hoping my parents wouldnt notice. wtf who does that?? idiots. sss8789
it always seems that everything goes wrong with our hookah shipments, but you do run a business which increases that risk...
mushrat
just because I use them more often..but to be honest, I try to steer clear of fed-ex. They have to be the worst of the lot...Almost every other wholesaler I use uses UPS and that driver is great. They still break shit all the time but atleast I GET the package... Bulldog_916
1 thing, FedEx contractors are their own businessmen. They basically run independent of the company. FedEx pays them to run their routes and they compete to get good, valuable routes. That's bad business practice on behalf of the contractor, not the business. Sucks to hear that though. If you ask me, both UPS and FedEx have their problems. UPS doesnt pay the people who load their trucks well at all (min wage), so they dont give a fuck. FedEx contractors arent accountable, so they arent overly cautious. It's just a demon of the game man.Sorry to hear about that.

We live close to the depot around here so we get ours on her way back. been the same big black woman since i got my first hookah package. She also hides it on the porch so no one walking around can see it, so if i dont hear the door all is well But the only problem is i have to wait till at least 5pm at the earliest, but usually closer to 7-7:

Huskysibe
<------ Father in law is HIGH up the Fed-Ex food chain. Consequently I have zero problems with Fed-Ex and if I do have probs, I make a phone call and its fixed FAST. Billy

But the delivery person can make all the difference. I've got a regular mail carrier that is massively over paid. She won't take packages to the door. She fills out the "not home" slip before she gets out of the truck! Sounds like maybe your delivery guy was doing the same kinda thing that day.'Rani

I've already made 2 complaints because of it, and haven't heard back about either. Canada Post fails in my eyes :\

waterboi
FedEx seems to have a bad rep for kinda crappy service. I use only UPS when I can or USPS. Sorry to hear about all that mess up Mush
Snoopy1966
That sucks Mush. I have no complaints with FedEx so far. They deliver on Saturdays man, that is great.Unless they are the ones that opened my box perfectly and some how got moisture on my exoticas and sealed all back up looking like it was never tampered with....btw, not to bring this up again, but I will. I saw boxes of exoticas at a shop in Chicago, Holy shit is all I have to say. Those coals were the worst I have ever seen. They were silver on all sides. So if you bought Exoticas from Guess Hookah they are crap. So much for 100% accounted for.

Canada Post fails in my eyes :\I've had the exact same problem with Canada Post but not until I moved to a more rural area of the GTA. I've personally had the least amount of problems with UPS but they always make sure I pay all duties on the order as well as their high brokerage fee. I guess it's a tradeoff. jfaltous
Yeah, I find that UPS, FedEx, and DHL really screw Canadians on duties just so they can charge a higher brokerage fee. Seems to me that every international package with one of these 3 ends up costing me a significant amount at my end, whereas USPS/Canada Post I never have to pay anything. Definitely seems like a trade-off, but then again the UPS and FedEx delivery guys are just as likely as the CP guy to be useless on the drop-off. My local DHL guy is really good though, he always leaves his cell phone number on the slip, and will fit you in with another delivery at the end of his shift (same day) if you weren't at home for the first attempt.
