jeans_redux
I love fishing also Last time I had the opportunity to do so, though, I forgot to bring extra fishing line and I only had about 20 yards left on the reel. Oops! That has happened to me more times than I can count. I go to whiz the line out there and it snaps back like there isnt any on there. I look and there's nothing left. Be prepared. I usually try to carry a couple of 150yd backup spools of a couple sizes of line when I go. Higher end 14-16lb line and lower end 6-8lb line. Sorry Jeans, I should have put "and fisherwomen" in there. But I figured the population would be pretty small.

JtowninAtown
any other fly-fishermen in the vicinity?
Bulldog_916
I did that for a while. It's tough though because good trout streams are usually split into many subsections by water diversion. I like going up on the Russian, HW-88, and the North Fork of the American River. oolatec
Used to fish all the time back in the day with my grandpa. We'd go at night lookin' for the catfish... yummy yum.One time, I saw a reflection of a bobber in the weeds not too far from the shore. So we moved our boat over to it, and it started moving. I figured it was just the current, but then the bobber started going underwater... Gramps and I grabbed the line... pulled, pulled, pulled... ends up it was a HUGE catfish that had broken someone's line earlier. Boy, did we have a great dinner the next day! MechAnt
Oh man I love fishing. The catches I'm most proud of are a huge Tarpon and a Cobia I caught a while ago. I love catching a nice big Grouper. Makes fantastic sashimi . Next time I'm home, I'm gonna look thru my old albums and scan those pics in. I haven't gone lately and I really need to. (ok ok, it was really 16. )

Doh n/m you already answered that.I fish when I'm in Florida. Usually catch catfish, pinfish, and the occasional sheepshead. A few years back I caught a reef shark which was a blast. I went to Key West with my parents once and we went fishing for some Mahi Mahi and cooked it up later that night at a local restaurant. Here's a pic I snapped of a tarpon jumping out of the water at one of the marinas in Key West:

Bulldog_916
Well, the bass picture up there was from Amador Lake in Ione, CA. The sturgeon was caught out of the Sacramento river. That one isnt the biggest I've caught. Biggest was an 84 inch sturgeon out of one of the sloughs out of Vacaville, near Fairfield. I have a video of me catching it, but it's insane with cussing. I knew it was a pig the whole time.
