hmmm, sounds interesting.

a straight vanilla bowl is not too sweet?

Well, this was the first time I tried vanilla, so I'm not really sure there. It didn't taste too sweet (still pretty damn sweet though), maybe it's just the batch I have, or perhaps the foamy rootbeer smoothed it out?

if i were to use soda in the base i would shake it up to make it flat first so it didnt foam up and fuck up my shit!

There's really no need to shake it up, I've smoked with pop in the bowl several times and haven't had any problems. Rootbeer was fine, and I doubt anyone can find a foamier (sp?) soft drink than good ole rootbeer

Thats the only time I say "soda"...when speaking to someone I know probably has no clue what "pop" is. Sometimes, in other areas of the US, I fuck up and say pop and get that confused look or a chuckle. smile.gif

I feel about 4 years old when I use the word "pop". "Soda" lets me feel like I'm at least 9 or 10.

In Western New York, "pop" is what the majority of people say...so it it the norm. for me, where as "soda" sounds lame to me, from people who grew up here. My sister has lived in Arizona for a few years and says "soda" now and its annoying. wallbash.gif

Hehe yah, when I travel I'm used to hearing "soda" and "coke"... I was quite pleasantly surprised when I went up to Prince Edward Island and a waitress asked me what kind of pop I wanted with my meal pirate.png

I love ginger beer, what an awesome flavor that would be. Although really good and well made ginger beer tends to be quite spicy which I don't think would make a very great smoke, coughing anyone? lol.

rootbeer in the base with rootbeer shisha is good too.

I, too enjoy soda ( Yes, I'm from Arizona.) in my hookah. I've never tried root beer before but I have done vanilla shisha with Coke. It's like your smoking a vanilla coke, maybe I'll do cherry next. I have never had any problems with carbonated beverages in my hookahs, I just burp the shit out until it goes flat. It is a good idea to have a designated hose for soda use, though. Soda will stay in a hose and will accumulate with use, thus causing the hose to have it's own flavor.

Soda and pop???
The only thing it's called in Indiana is coke...if the restaurant only has Pepsi, you still call it coke...never soda or pop, people will just stare at you...

We're not just talking about colas though. What would you call Dr. Pepper? Coke? lol

Or orange soda, grape soda, etc? Rootbeer? wallbash.gif

ginger beer = ginger ale in the U.S. seagrams, canada dry, sierra mist, seven up to say some, the last two aren't exactly ginger ale, but similiar.

Root beer Mug, A & W, Barq's, Stewart's.
Those are the top brands here that I can think of.
If you ever had Dr.Pepper, its like that except not so crisp and a lot sweeter.

Ginger beer is nearly as differnet from Ginger Ale as it is from Root Beer tongue.gif

Stewart's makes a Ginger Beer, it's quite good but not what you'd call refreshing.

Well, ginger beer and ginger ale are very similar, just ginger beer has quite the bite whereas ginger ale is smooth and refreshing from the start

At IUP we get western Pa (pop) and eastern Pa (soda) clashes all the time. Also the out of staters...
My old roommate and my current always try to correct me when I say pop.

So what do you say to feel "of age"? "Yes, I'd like a highly carbonated ginger flavored sugar beverage"? Edited by r1v3th3ad

  • 2 weeks later...
I smoked some vanilla shisha with orange soda in the base and I thought my lungs might explode. It was a miserable experience. I wonder why it was so different in my case... It kind of made me do something along the lines of hyperventalate. Anyone know why that would be?

Ive heard that a lot of Euro countries dont have Root Beer simply because it never became popular there. I know theres at least a few different sodas that are common in Europe but unheard of here. For example when I lived in Sweden they drank a special type of soda for Christmas and Easter and Ive never had anything like it here in the states. Edited by Foos
