Bandit402
Hey guys, Sadly during an early morning study break, I went to pack up my new egyptian...and discovered the base had a crack going down its side (couldn't get a good pic on my camera, sorry). It doesn't seem to have affected its seal though. Any preventative measures that can be taken to help the crack not cause problems? (I had it stored next to a window, I believe that the single-digit temps outside must have altered the glass enough for the crack). Thanks for any advice,Bandit
SafeSearchOff
try using some sort of ceramics glue inside the crack? or you can just wrap the whole sucker in duct tape....
Cheese//
And don't forget to handle it gently.Maybe wrap it in some bubble wrap or something.Does the crack reach the neck of the base?

spoolinspoon
Goto an auto parts store and pick up some windsheild glass repair kit. That would probably be your best bet.
DJnargile
Buy a Mya.
SafeSearchOff
since MYA bases tend to be thinner than egyptian bases, that sounds like a splendid idea >.<

SafeSearchOff
oh believe me, im not traditionalist. my first hookah was a QT, and it is my love. but i think its a pretty known fact that an average egyptian base is thicker than a MYA base, especially the new myas (nou nou, chic, pyramid, etc.)
gaia.plateau
American Idol and AIDS are also elements of our modern evolution, but I don't see you advocating those QUOTE (The Devils Playground @ Jan 31 2008, 04:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (spoolinspoon @ Jan 31 2008, 01:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Goto an auto parts store and pick up some windsheild glass repair kit. Bandit402
Well I managed to talk the local store into replacing the cracked base. But with my luck.....the next morning after smoking I check my base, looks great. Come back after class....A NEW CRACK!!!! I think i've come to accept the lack of quality of this glass...and I will continue to smoke my broken vase until it causes problems. (new name for it...liberty bell)Bandit
ZenSilk
If it's going down the side, there's no saving it. It sounds like terrible glass. Youc an buy replacement bases on Hookahcompany.com, Hookah-Shisha.com, HookahHookah.com (or saharasmoke.com), SocialSmoke.com.They aren't too expensive.
