Corona
Yes Dave Mathews is great.... he has a double disk out of him and tim reynolds (sp?) live and acoustic at a college somewhere..... it is one of the greatest acoustic cds ive heard. If you havnt heard it and you are a DMB fan, i strongly recommend it! Another band i think is great in this type of genre (just slightly heavier) is Biffy Clyro. Lebanese blonde and soup i think you guys would like it..
[LB]
I havent heard of biffy clyro but i will be sure to check them out. I saw DMB live this summer they were greeeeat live although the night was kind of a blur. Im definently checking out this biffy guy
ahwahoo2006
The DMB CD you are thinking of is Live at Luther College with Tim Renoylds, its freakin amazing.
[LB]
i didnt like biffy, but i discovered a couple new bands today (im sick at home with a sinus infection[i wonder why]) The dining rooms nightmares on wax If you wanna get a good cd too, look into the DJ kicks sets- especially the thievery corp one. MR Bubble
Yep, classical is good stuff. Very good stuff for the soul indeed. However, most music just distracts from the smoking experience for me, unlsess it compliments the machine. I said it before and I'll say it again (just for the remote chance someone may check it out): Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's "No Quarter" also known as the "unleaded" album (disc to most of you). This has it all: Rock-N'-Roll, classic Zep blues sound, and most songs accompanied by Arab string bands. Awesome combo! Puts me in a deep trance whenever I smoke and listen to it. Soup
I also checked out Biffy Clyro and came to the same conclusion as LB...didn't like it. It sounds like some crappy pop-punk band with a slight touch of metal. One of these days I'm gonna smoke with a little Mindless Self indulgence. It is just plain odd music. Alot of different styles come into play here. I'm not sure if many of you would like them...it seems that either you like them off the bat or you don't. Definitly fun music. Here are some songs I like: Boomin'Bring The PainDaddyDiabolicalGolden EyeKeepin' Up With The KidsKill The RockSeven-ElevenTightTornado ------> this is the one I first heard and loved, but in no means their best
Bane
I just put together a pretty schweet mix CD of what I call "Fall Music". Basically just chill music that's perfect for listening to in the fall when the nights are starting to become chilly and the days are getting shorter. Would be great for hookah sessions as well, I'm sure Here's the playlist: 1. Mogwai - I Know You Are But What Am I? 2. Chad Fischer - Motorcyle Ride With Sam (garden state soundtrack) 3. Aqualung - Strange and Beautiful 4. Kings Of Convenience- Homesick 5. Snow Patrol - How To Be Dead 6. Postal Service - Nothing Better 7. Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out 8. Yellowcard - Only One (Acoustic) 9. Lifehouse - Everybody is Someone 10. Cary Brothers - Blue Eyes 11. Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky 12. Coldplay - Under the Tracks 13. Colin Hay - I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You 14. The Shins - New Slang 15. Gary Jules - Mad World 16. Death Cab For Cutie - Passenger Seat 17. Frou Frou- Let Go
Corona
deezamn!!!!! my bad on biffy, i think they are nice when you want to chill... but hey it shows how diverse a group we are! Do any of you (probably most of the younger crowd) listen to any kind of music that the vocals are primarily screaming? I have two great bands (hopefully better than biffy) that i cant stop listening to. The first is for the metallica based fans who listen to hardcore now.. Shadows Fall.... their guitars are METAL.. the drummer is great, the vocals could use some work (in my opinion) but none the less a great band. Now for the more kinda spacey kind of hardcore try Hopesfall.... anything off their Satelite Years CD, they also have a new one out called A types i think. Not for me way too kiddy pop rock, but not too too bad. Just the radical style changes form one cd to the next is what turned me off. Oh, anyone ever heard of Caldwell>??? me either! but my little bro is filling in for their guitarist and probably coming to a town near you!!! (sorry i have to say it, im proud of the little guy!) hookahphxsmoker
The Beatles definately work their way into any smoke session, my favorites include The White Album, Revolver, Abbey Road, Sgt. Peppers, and Rubber Soul. Anything Zeppelin or Floyd is good, except for 80s Floyd where they fell off. Old Jethro Tull is good as well. String Cheese Incident is good smoke music, though I'm not sure what kind of smoke . Particle is excellent spaced out jam without vocals. Ben Folds is a great pianist as well as playing just about every other instrument. The Allman Brothers also have some excellent tunes.
