Lakemonster
I got to wondering what you guys use as a cleaning agent for your hookah? IE: Soap, Cleaning solution...... etc. I used some dish soap the other nite that left a ghost in my hookah that tasted horrible...... I washed that thing 3 more times with just hot water before the smell was out. I keep meaning to try this powdered stuff thats like oxclean.... but its for cleaning and sanitizing brewing equiptment. What is it you folks use? I sure would like to find the best thing out.
Brad
I've used lime juice for my stem and hoses, and I've heard of a few people using lemon juice. Seemed to work well and it didn't leave a nasty taste... FYI: Don't try using Lime Away
Steviethepope
I clean everything with Oxy Clean. Works really good.
Soup
At my local head shop there is a solution called "Orange Chronic". I'd figure if it's good enough to clean a bong it's good enough to clean a hookah.
cypress
Lemmon Juice works for me.
mushrat
lemon jouice on my hoses, a little Dawn in my vase when it needs it. Rinse well. If your vase is really nasty. I'd also suggest purple power, availible at your local head shop as well.

The TSP based liquid?

Teufelhund
Vodka works, or lemon juice, or plain rubbing alcohol, or that blue junk you can get in a grocery store to clean coffee makers. Just make sure you rinse it well after you clean it Whatever you do, if you have a MYA hookah DO NOT use Formula 420 - available at most head shops - to clean the stem. The actual center is a piece of threaded aluminum tubing, at least in the chrome stems, and the salt in 420 will corrode it to death. . . . I rinsed mine under running hot water for about 10 minutes and it still corroded enough to be unuseable in about three days. When I finally got it apart there were salt crystals in the threads. That's where it broke when I was screwing it back together.
ZAP
I just put a tiny drop of dish soap down the stem and clean it with the brush. It foams up and all the muck comes out. Very safe and effective. For the base, I just put some dishwasher crystals in the bottom and filled it with boiling water and just let it sit for a while. It worked great. Do you spell "the, teh" on purpose or is it just because you're typing so damn fast that you do it on accident? I know I type "teh" sometimes on accident when I'm typing fast, but I go back and fix it. So I was just wondering if you're doing it on purpose, because every one of your "the's" is spelt that way Just wondering, no offense intended. Its for several reasons, firstly i do type fast and all my The's come out Tehs and i am too lazy to go back and change them, ussualy on word it cahnges them for me automaticly, secondly my fat fingers refuse to listen to me and do as i say and are constantly pressing teh wrong buttons on teh (<-there it goes again) key board. I will try better to fix teh problem, till then bear with me on this.
lov2aclr8
i can`t recall how its called in english but it could be like "lemon powder" its white like salt and tasted like relly strong lemon... its sort of like a spice in the citchen... some people clean kettles with it .... and i also use this: originally for cleaning wepons... i put about 2 tea spoons of that powder in glass add some dishwashing soap and boiling water i then put the metall brush into the glas and then stick it inside the hookah... make some "dirty" movments and again sink it in the glass... the hookah becomes cleaner then ever! Lakemonster
HAhahaaha..... Indeed. I use a rifle cleaning rod and nylon bristle brush (.270) to clean the inside of my hoses. I see you are from Isreal..... and by the cleaning rod and brushes.... as well as the magazine (is that an orlite mag?) that you are an owner of a M-16 type rifle. lov2aclr8
no mate... if you look carefully you will see the addons on the magazine you can see it clearly its sort of a triangle comes to a square... that means that is not m16... its a downsized AK47... its called GlilonGalil SAR in our country.... its the same caliber as m16 but shorter (then the longest m16)

Lakemonster
Ok... I wondered about the magazine. I saw the protrusions .... but then the shape of the magazine looked so much like a M-16 mag..... and that the brush was for a M-16 chamber. ( I didnt know Galil's had that type of lockup.) We have a few of those over here in the US.....they just arent favored due to the price tags.... hard to find parts for them here..... so the market tends to shy from them. Well.... the point of the matter is that that gun cleaning brushes and rods make excellent, long lasting hookah cleaning devices. As a matter of fact. I need to stop by the gunshop and get a .45 or .410 shotgun brush (brass bristles) and a .20 gauge mop brush for drying! These will be used to clean the stem. Ahhhhhhhh... Hookahs made better thru firepower. Its a dream come true.
