justoffthecoast
Not that I couldn't figure it out by myself within a couple days, but I'm impatient:I just bought a Mod Bowl from Hookah-Shisha. I'm using golden coals (quick lights), and I'm looking for suggestions on most effective coal placement.I'm used to using a pretty small bowl (got it with my Sahara Smoke Egyptian in exchange for designing a Web site for a hookah dealer). With that, I usually use between one and one-and-a-half coals (broken in half/quarters) placed around the edges, moving them in as I smoke. That technique seems to char the shish pretty quick, but it's hard to get big clouds without doing so since the bowl is so small.Just tried my first bowl with the Mod, and got a bit of charring using the same technique but more coals. Much less, however, and it took much longer. Just wondering what everyone elses' experiences are.
JillyIsJustKidding
Careful as these bowls get hot and it burns really easily. Just make sure you don't use too many coals and you'll be fine
jerrysalem
The bowl/tobacco/holes/charcoal relationship is like a carb in a car. Very delicate and sensitive, but when you have it set up right it works properly.I had bought for example a shallow big bowl, set it up properly with the right amount of coals, and it still burnt and ruined a nice evening with a friend. I simply threw it out, I have no tolerance for things that don't work properly. My Mya bowl works fine, it has a deep bowl.
Snoopy1966
Personally I would take that cover right off. I do not like them and I prefer foil. The top does work nice just to set on top of the bowl as needed. Just make sure you have a good set of tongs to take it off and put back on. Or just do not latch it, it makes it easier then. When you release to latch, that is where you could have lots of troubles.

Also, I always use foil; I've never liked screens.
Snoopy1966
Nope my bad, I did not realize it was just a Mod bowl until now. I have 2 mod bowls and they work good for me. They are very heavy though. I did get anther one with my Sahara smoke Hookah, but it is very thin. I will not use that one. It is just cheap.
