qgk
So i read here that custom duties on Shisha are pretty harsh if caught going to Canada, i was wondering if getting herbal molasses would be still hit hard if i bought it online, considering it's not tobacco...im wonderin if anyone has experience with it. also if anyone knows where to get Herbal Molasses for cheap in town (toronto/GTA) that would be great info as well.thanks! Bulldog_916
I dunno, I thought Canada relaxed the duties on tobacco. As a gift maybe they dont charge you?
gaia.plateau
There is no federal tax law against shisha... it's really ambiguous at the moment, and it depends on whether or not the customs agent in question is being a douche. Appeal the taxation and it will be waived, guaranteed.
chinamon
QUOTE (qgk @ Feb 2 2008, 04:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>also if anyone knows where to get Herbal Molasses for cheap in town (toronto/GTA) that would be great info as well.its not cheap but the only place ive seen worth checking out because of their wide selection of Soex would be Nasr Foods on Lawrence (just west of warden) on the north side.ive also been told that aladdins in mississauga sells tobacco-free shisha but im not sure which brand or what their selection is like. erufiku
It's kinda like russian roulette actually... Someone from mtl got hit with 500$+ of taxes a while ago and he just sent the package back as far as I recall. Sucks to pay the shipping fees for nothing (not to mention greenhouse emissions). On the other hand, I remember Gaia whisked a large order in. And I got around 2.5kg of shisha recently without taxes/duites, althought the package was opened by customs. But that's speaking only for QC.
gaia.plateau
That large order I got ($250, containing 1.5kg of shisha) actually did got dinged for taxes, $120 worth, but I appealed it and it was waived.
jfaltous
I've gotten several large orders through without problems... basically know who you're ordering from and that they can handle filling out the customs forms "properly". MNH and worldhookah are both good with that from my experience.Although shisha isn't specifically listed by customs, there is "manufactured tobacco" that is heavily taxed. Essentially they treat 100g (give or take, my memory's not 100% on this) as the equivalent of a carton of cigarettes when they charge the duties. If you go for herbal molasses, there is definitely no taxes or duties to be paid, and judging from my experiences with shisha prices around specifically Toronto and Calgary, you're much better off buying online than going to a store. At the same time though... don't waste your time on herbal molasses... its a waste of money
