So How Do You Educate People About Hookahs?

Most of the time when i run into people with misconceptions its while im smoking. For the most part i just let the smell it, and then talk with them about it. Whats nice is i find that once you inform one person they tend to spread it about in there little circle. Especially if you get someone interested in trying it once they smell the smoke.

yep same thing happened to me, i was smoking hookah at a friends house and my this guy was convinced i was smoking NHT then he took a puff and really liked it. Also when i smoke in public we get lots of curious onlookers and even some people giving us strange looks. The good thing is, a cop walked by the first time (im 80% sure someone called him) and he said nothing, just kept on walking.. when seanij and i were smoking outside we even met a new friend and everytime i smoke outside i get people asking me what it is an they'd be fascinated by it and asking questions (not once has someone asked me if i was smoking NHT out of it, which means not ALL people judge).

and as much as i hate the "uneducated" ones, what did you guys think a hookah was before you got into it? i know i thought exactly like everyone else, especially next to other items intended for bad use.

well when i first saw a hookah i had no idea what it was, i was in dubai and we were on a safari and after dinner, they broke out the hookahs. i cant really remember what i thought, i was 10 at the time (needless to say i wasnt allowed to try xD) then i somehow learnt (dno how) that it was flavoured tobacco and i tried it and loved it. my grandparents bought one from tunisia as a decoration and they're convinced its used for NHT (since a lot of people do mix NHT with it in tunisia...) and my mum doesnt like the hookah at all cos she's convinced i'll start smoking NHT... "just dont let me catch you trying anything *stronger*!" (by stronger she means NHT..)

I dont really educate them. I say "its not nht, if you think it is piss off, because its not.. you can have a sample to test it if you want" haha.

Well I went out last night with my new Woot shirt and many were saying look at the NH on that Dude's shirt. Then I would get a comment do you smoke NHT? I replied to them no I do not, Hookahs are made for tobacco. So there is a bigger misconception then I originally thought.

I went out with some friends last night, had some beers and came back to smoke.

We were chillin outside, tellin stories having some good laughs, and other people were walkin by givin us looks. Obviously thinking we were smoking NHT. We asked a few people to stop and see if they wanted a try. A few people stopped, but one girl reached for the hose, and as soon as I said its not NHT she walked away in a fit of rage, probably cursing us all.

Oh well, one or two took a hit and said let them know next time we smoke they would love to join. Atleast we got a few new ones educated

same here, when me and seanij smoked at a park we met a guy and i went to smoke with some other friends another time and he happened to walk by (coincidence wtf) and joined us
