I Just Bought A Hookah, Did I Get Ripped Off?

Recommended Posts

bro i'd say return it and get one from the net... that way you can pick out the style you like... and get all the parts, plus at H-S you get some extra goodies.

ah well im not sure what to do anymore... should i try to return it and buy it online? or just get the stem?

return it and buy online.

thats your best bet. once you return it start a new thread asking people to help you look for a new hookah, include what size of hookah you want and your price range. people here will be more then willing to help you out.

Kinda inclinded to agree on the general feeling of this thread.

You did get horribly ripped off. There is no way that should have cost $160.

He should have the downstem. However you might get one my mya direct.

Well being a shop I will say if it was complete and they threw in 5 tobaccos coals tongs case you were fine. Bit of you did not get the before mentioned you got screwed. Thats a Mya and not a cheap one I may ad. Not that they have many cheap ones.

But for sure I will say go back and be nice and explain what all is missing from the hookah and get the parts and the freaking Mya box it came in.

As for a return I have dam near no respect for them already but if they give you a retun that last 5% of respect they still have right now will also be gone. Lets face it you used it.

I have hyad a couple hookahs under 5 I am sure go out with out down stems. People have brought them back and sure enough we hunted down the mistake. Its pretty common when we bring in 20-30 hookahs and assemble them to miss the down stems on a couple in a rush between customers and have to go back and look and see which Hookahs are down stemless.

It shuld be as simple as they will look at it and say Yea we screwed up let us grab some parts from Hookah B and fix you up and keep you as a customer.

I get hookahs missing parts weekly here from my distributors and they take care of it. hell if a hookah is used and has a defect with in the first couple days of smoking my dist. will replace it. I replace it and pray they do but since we buy so many hookahs now they don`t complain. They are just like whats wrong with it? OKay heres what ever makes you/ the customer happy. A goos shop will not return the item because its used and they can`t sell it now. But on the other hand they will gladly fix the item.

If they don`t fix it i hear Home Depot has a Bricks sale. Not saying anything illegal or implying that bricks make great note holders or anything like that. But they do make great paper weights. Oh they are located in the Garden section not that I have been there lately. lol

Good luck with them and keep the room posted. You could make them a big name on line or ward off unsuspecting customers that may get screwed next.

Here's what i think happened...

You know nothing about hookahs. You walked into a Head Shop. This Shop probably is known for selling to Under-Age kids, and you may be under-age for all we know. You got SCREWED by buying a Chinese Almuminum Cored knock-off piece of shit that looks alright, and the owner of the shop talked it up to make you buy it. You blew 160 bucks on the biggest piece of shit ever, it came in a box with a cardboard cover that slides off and the hookah and the parts were in Styrofoam. You have no idea what you're doing, so you set-up the hookah to the ebst of your knowledge, and you smoke a bunch of times out of it, burning the shisha, filling the base all the way with water, getting TERRIBLE smoke, and thinking it's great. Maybe you also smoke NHT and that's what got you into the hookah.

So now someone said something to you, and you came upon this forum, and you have a completely useless Chinese shit hookah that a guy fucked you over with becasue he won't give you a downstem. laugh.gif

That's what i think. Ohha nd you got screwed, yes, I'm sorry if i sound so harsh. You just repeated what this one kid i know did. (he was embarassed i made fun of him so much that he just left his useless hookah at my house). happy.gif

We all strive to be cool as Mr. ZenSilk, you should too. Let's keep making assumptions that help nothing of this thread wink.gif .

Go back to the store and get a downstem. You'll have no luck in returning it. You put your lips to any smokng device and it's YOURS.

I'm 18, in college. Me and my friends wanted to smoke hookah one night so we found a place on the internet and went there and bought a hookah. Obviously, I made a bad decision, didn't get the best deal, and so on, but I don't know about all that other stuff you said.

I've been smoking hookahs for a while. My best friend has a hookah, so ive set up a hookah dozens of times. ive been to tons of hookah bars. I know what a hookah is supposed to taste like. I know where to fill water up to in a hookah. I've never owned a hookah, so I don't know much about the different brands, but I wanted to buy a hookah.

Further,
1) this shop doesn't get much business for hookah's at all, checked my and friend's driver's licenses before we walked in.. so i dont think they are known for selling to underage costumers
2) im almost sure that this is not a knock-off, though if someone told me how to check, id make sure
3) he gave a legit box in which the hookah fit well
4) i did get terrible smoke, and I didn't think it was great, so I came here
5) i dont even know what NHT is

I'm not sure why you came here and jumped all over me, zensilk, but you know nothing about me, and you should probably stop jumping to conclusions. It doesn't make you look smart as oppose to what you might think.

Zen remember we have all be newbies. Also we have all made bad buys. I still do. I just don`t ask if I was fucked. I know I amk fucked the miinute I open the box and realize its not even close to what I ordered. Hence Why I only buy 1 or 2 items from distributors until I trust them.

Dude I will try and remember to call that shop tomorrow and see what they have to say. I say we all do that. Its just the cool thing to do. I believe you have their contact info on here. If not post it and we can call all over and over again he will get sick of getting angry calls if he did it on purpose. And if he didn`t then he will fix the issue and none of uf have to call.

Hey guys, I'm actually going back today, but I'm not sure what I should do. I'm almost sure that I wont get a refund, but maybe if I showed him the price of one online, hed give me a price difference. Should I call beforehand? I'm really not good in these situations.

Thanks for all your help and advice

Just walk in and ask the guy behind the counter if he noticed any extra downstems laying around because when you opened your box you couldnt find it. Don't be confrontational unless he is. Also ask first thing if they take returns. If they dont ask if you used it, dont tell them. Thats what I would do at least.

Just be cool about it, and don't blow your top. See how reluctant (if at all) he is to give you the missing pieces first... if he gives you a problem, then kindly, and respectfully demand a full refund.
