Speeding Tickets

Turned down for a promotion, my 360 takes a nose dive, and now I get a speeding ticket. Granted, the last could have been prevented but now I owe 104 bucks to the state of Ohio. Any advice? Should I try to show up in court to plea and/or no contest? Any advice out there?

I know the best advice is not to speed, but a brother was in a hurry to get to the beer making store to meet up with a friend. Thanks! wink.gif

Sorry to hear about the bad week. If you were obviously speeding though, it would probably be hard to get out of the ticket by going to court, but who knows. I've always just paid mine so I don't know how any of that works

My worst ticket was on Valentines day about 3 years ago. I had to work till that evening, then me and my gf at the time were gonna go out that night, but I still hadn't gotten her anything. So after work I sped to try to get her a gift to make it back intime to pick her up, which was suppose to be right after I got off of work. I got a 216 dollar speeding ticket >_<

Always contest the speeding ticket. Sometimes the officer will not show up and you will get it dismissed. If the officer does show up, you can plead innocent. I'd suggest looking up local speeding ordinance and thinking of a good excuse, it's the best you can do really.

In the end, it's really just a tax so you can drive whatever speed you want, if you want to think of it that way. lol_hitting.gif

Do you have the opportuity for driving school? I only had to pay the court fee and for driving school ($50 total) when I got my speeding ticket (50 in 30) and accident ticket (not in control of vehicle ...lol)...They are only supposed to send you once but I got lucky since the first one was before I was 18.

i wnt to court for mine and it was dismissed but if it wouldnt have gotten dismissed then i would have had to pay a ton of court fees. i dont know how ohio does it i liv in illinois but it is a good idea to go to court but i knew i was getting off.... so make sure you wont have to pay a lot if you dont get off

Was the cop hiding? (Invalid in most states).
Was the cop vehicle turned on? (Invalid in some states).
Was the cop certified to use radar technology? (Invalid in all states, and the majority of tickets are given by uncertified cops).
How fast were you going, and what was the limit? (If there was less than a 10% difference, you're guaranteed to get off for the possibility of a loose speedometer).

Those are probably your best bets.
