Hahah...uh Having Probs With My Hookah...

Recommended Posts

Well, I really like this hookah, the smoke is not too hot or ne thing, just a bit warm compared to my 22 inch egyptian...But All I can taste is coals and a lil bit of the flav after a while. It isn't too harsh that I start coughing or anything (but my bro tried it and said it tasted harsh, he is a noobie)

I'm not feeling like I paid $40 for sothing "unsmokeable", it is, unlike the small pumpkin hookahs.

What am I doing wrong? I've been using 3k and exoticas for the hookah. Is it cuz the water level is too high?

I have been fluffing the tobacco up to the rim. (I've used my egyptian bowl and MYA bowl)

The egyptian bowl does seem not to taste too much like coals, unline the small MYA bowl that came with my hookah.

I know it isn't too many coals cuz it doesn't burn my throat or anything

Any ideas?

If it tastes like coal, maybe a little less heat? Keep fluffing up the shisha to the rim, and maybe poke smaller holes. Is the draw restricting or loose?

I know you said it isn't a heat issue, but if it taste like coal, less coal will only make it not taste as coaly ya dig? Edited by QuiltedMaple

Kinda "restricted" since I used the "straw" method as the diffuser. But without it, its loose. Even if I do use less coals=not alot of smoke Edited by JillyIsJustKidding

hmm, try less coals and wind cover if needed, just gotta work with it.

diffuser is unneeded if you ask me ...

and the only time ive really tasted "coal" was my first time with exoticas, they weren't fully ready that was sick, so make sure you coals are good Edited by zeppyrkr

Alright, I'll try that later on when I get the chance. But, do you think the water level has anything to do with it? I know I didn't fill the vase less than 2" for sure

Guess you gotta quit ashing on the bowl...

Maybe you need natural coals now.

I use to have a similair problem. Try using double layer of foil and keep the coal on the rim. Theres been times on a few of my friends hookah's where i used a triple layer of foil to block out the direct coal flavour.

Lol I do...Exoticas tongue.gif But even with those, I get a lil charcoal taste. I have been doubl foiling and everything. And the holes were made with a skewer (no huge holes of course)

Well usually it's not the coal taste, it's a burning tobacco/glycerine taste. Coal taste is only present when there is actually a smell emanating form the coals when lighting them and while they are lit.

You have to be burning the shisha, that's the only way you can get bad taste. Unless you have a Bad Exotica Batch. My Exoticas do in fact start tasting teribble after about 45 minutes and i have to relight some.

Nah, it wasn't a bad batch. I've tried exoticas with my 22" egyp. and no taste whatsoever.

Okay, I tried again with less coals (I was using TWO 3k, One halfway slanted on the other before) I broke up one 3k into small pieces and it helped A LOT. Not much coal taste but a lil (probably just cuz they are QL)

Overall, I can taste the shisha way better. Thank you everone biggrin.gif
