staygone
As long as the stem is clean of any residue and the base is rinsed out, you should be good.I don't even use soap myself, and I have no problems with faint previous flavors tarnishing my bowl.-QM

r1v3th3ad
Ya know its weird. I'm having trouble with my bowl since I tried out Kamel.I started off with a clean bowl. When I was done rinse it in warm water, still smelled of honey. Boiled, still smelt. Soaked in everclear, still smelt. Back and forth between the everclear and boiling...still smells. I spent a good 3hrs trying to get the honey Kamel smell outta my bowl. Sometimes you just gotta cut your losses.

zeppyrkr
in most cases if it is indeed "faint" your next flavor will over power it, i personally wouldn't worry about it.

MechAnt
When it comes down to it, the slight smell will never go away but it'll never truly affect the taste at all. The only thing I've found to remove the smell completely is drinking alcohol (about half shot worth) diluted with water. Or beer
Sonthert
I don't really get the faint smell, but beer will remove almost everything that water won't. There are non-water soluble principles in many flavors. Wash with beer, see what that does.
cartercdad
uses some lemon juice and baking soda it will clear it right up. thats what i do when i cannot get something clean for my hookah. and it is cheap. it will actually foam clean it . give it a try but make sure it is in the sink. hehe

MechAnt
YOU USED EVERCLEAR?! That is the epitome of overkill. Diluted always works better from my experience. Beer is just amazing, try it. Eric is correct 100.01% of the time. I was skeptical until I tried it and it was perfect.

Sometimes you just gotta cut your losses.Shalom Johnny D!I've been smoking 7 years and use liquid dish soap for cleaning every 3rd cleaning. Do your warm scrambled eggs, hot-and-ready-English-delicacy "Spam" taste soapy on clean enamel plate? If so, don't complain to the restaraunt manager. He might fire the dishwasher who supports 19 children at home, will take his severance pay, drink it up and jump from a bridge into the Thames wereupon he will immidiately die of smelling the raw factory chemical spill-out.Don't clean your "washable" hose with water, ,caustic lemon or dish liquid either, but glass can be soaped clean to break down unwanted residue of the small flecks of tobacco sucked down the metal shaft quite rarely. It cleans the ball baring inside its casement and the metal shaft inside and out. Always I experiment. Just last week I rinsed the shaft in warm water. Next I used the long thin brush, then upon using a few drops of soap the dirt residue came out. I stupidly got a tiny bit of soap in my beard when I took the brush out (Which reminded me what soap tastes like since I've been born off and on). I did or don't ever taste that in smoking for a long time. Its time to break the taboo. Soap won't hurt any part of your hookah but will mix in with the burnt carbon and shisha gum left in a dirty enamel bowl. For that, soak in soap lightly, use an abbraisive cleaner pad, a bit of sodium carbonate baking powder will help scrub well, take any previous smells out including tobacco, soap ,Kamel and various bodily fluids.
