Super Tuesday

So here it is, the hype has hit a peek, it is Super Tuesday. I feel like a beaten dog. I am writing this early in the day, so I have no idea how this day will end. The polls have not even opened in NY yet. I want to scream at the sky! I feel that no one in the nation is thinking about what this all means, but that is no new feeling. But I just found out that not only is George Soros supporting Hilary Clinton, but he is also supporting John McCain. I was thinking that if it comes down to those two, well at least I can vote to help defeat Clinton. (I am one that really does not like her, but that is just my feeling.) But if they are each in the same guy’s pocket, we will get the same shit, even if we are against it. I hope by some miracle, that we can defeat someone sponsored by someone that is so evil. If we can get anyone that is not in that man’s pocket I will be a happy man. If not, I feel that the USA that I know is doomed. I know that the USA is not perfect. I understand that we have great big problems. But I also feel that this is the greatest place to live. I would hate to see it go against the people. (More that it already is) I am looking for a ‘new great hope’ but I feel that there is not one left. So everyone go vote, and what ever the outcome, maybe we can try to reclaim what this country once stood for.

Eh, endorsements aren't what bothers me.

What really bothers me is that many people decide who they're going to vote for based on "momentum" and "how good their chance of winning the primary is" etc. How backwards of an idea is that?

Not to sound too harsh, but people who vote like that should have to watch their children be sterilized with blunt, rusty implements. In my eyes they're at least on the same level as those who vote based on the candidates religious beliefs, and perhaps even worse... because they can not even making a personal decision about who would be the best candidate to save the US.

We should all embrace our individuality and make a choice, knowing that it is the right decision rather than the most likely.

I've actually been actively voicing my support, among my friends at least, for my candidate of choice for almost a year now.

I can't believe that it's been that long since they started their campaigning...
This is just ridiculous...

Which... "man" are you talking about?

tongue.gif it sounds like you think there is literally some monolithic Lex Luther-type character sitting in a doom fortress in the middle of Wyoming, controlling the economic fate of your nation.

(In reality there are like 70-80 of these people, and they don't have doom fortresses).

Welcome to the brave new world of elections. Diebold voting machines have been known to erroneously and regularly miscount votes. After the debacle in 2004 where they were sued, they changed their company's name to "Precision Mark" and kept the government contract. My county uses them.

And yes, I too tire of the people who vote for "whoever is going to win". That is not what a republic was about. You were supposed to vote on principle not electability.

And let's face it, the GOP is shooting its own foot if they elect anyone other than Ron Paul. In a time when the country is now 70% opposed to the war in Iraq, how do they expect to win in a general election? Especially when McCain goes off with his "We should be in Iraq for another 100 years" speech.

Hehehe true that. It's a lot more than just one evil guy, there are a bunch of people in power who are screwing us over for their own gain.

As a side note, it would be pretty cool to have a Skeletor who lives in Snake Mountain like in Masters of the Universe... it'd just be so much more interesting laugh.gif . The way things are set up now it's just kinda depressing, and very uncool.

I dont like Clinton and I really dont like McCain, so I'm fucked with either outcome if it does go to that...

I'm in the same boat.
Looking like it's time to start paddling!

All that BS on the news, hours of preaching from some "expert" (likely the janitor) and all that debate of trivial points, all the while the Dow takes a 400pt tanking... and they don't even mention it.

I am starting to think all the hours of election coverage, and hype are nothing more than blinders, trying to keep the country from realizing what a pickle we are in, and coming to the realization that none of the candidates has the slightest clue where to begin with economic policy... as if they had the slightest ability to actually influence it.

Write in:

"None of the above"

That's how I voted today.

I voted. I have the right to complain. That's how I see it.

Ok, i understand your right to disagree with the candidates...

but...who do you think should run the country? yourself? this country cannot run as is without a president, so you should at least write in someone you think is able to run the country in the way which you believe it should be run. I can't agree with a person who thinks no one is able to run this country. or does it not give an option to write in anyone? if this is the case then i could understand someone voting for "none of the above".

If god intended for you to vote, he would have given you candidates.

Do you indeed believe in God? (I understand that your comment is at least sarcastic in its meaning) I ask because everything I have read from you indicates that you are against the religious conservatives. Now, while this does not specifically indicate a disbelief in God, it does at least represent that you believe that you are more qualified to interpret the word or the Bible than pastors, priests, popes, reverends, etc, and if you don't believe in God then I believe that you are not qualified to interpret the word of God. If you do believe in God, though, good for you; continue to interpret His word in your fashion. I just feel the need to clarify this for myself.

Is there a problem with being against religious conservatives? I find that most of them use YOUR faith to THEIR advantage because they know how you are likely to vote...with your religion. That's why some 85% of people who consider themselves Christians or Born-Again are voting for Republicans. Coincidence? I think not. I like to think that IF I were religious, I would be open-minded enough to vote against the majority because I want my country to stand for something more than what Christians want. I can tell you are religious and Christian or Catholic in your use of "His." I understand your feelings because I was religious once, but I saw the light when I matured. I dont know how you voted or why, but if you consider yourself with the majority, then I believe that you did vote Republican.

Odd... McCain is winning on the Republican side... by a lot... and I rarely recall him pushing his faith on anyone.

Hahaha I think you misread my post. I was trying to determine weather or not gaia was religious, as I believe that only religious people can or should interpret the Bible. I don't believe that a non-religious person should even ASSUME to interpret the Bible. If gaia is indeed religious then he has every right to interpret the Bible in his own way and to make his decisions based on said interpretation.

I am not what anyone would call, by any means, a religous person. I just believe that if you are going to try to say what God or Jesus *thinks* (haha that's almost a joke) about a situation then you should have the faith to back it up.

There's a condescending tone in your post. Thank you for supporting my belief that many (not all, and by no means most) non-religious people think that they are better than religious people. A vocal minority can ruin it for a silent majority, but we all know that as part of the hookah community.
