What Is The Deal With El Nakhla?

I have been reading some reviews of Nakhla on this forum and I am absolutly befuddled when people tell me that not only can el nakha take a bit more heat than other shishas but it has good smoke quality and flavor.

Every single time I have ever smoked El nakhla I have found that the smallest amount of heat will burn it. I have put 1/4 of a three-kings 33mm on a bowl and still had Nakhla burn. The smoke quality is miniscule (when I use 1 33mm withstanding the awful burning taste) compared to romman, starbuzz or hookah hookah. Furthermore I feel like all of the flavors taste identical.

This only happens to me when I smoke El Nakhla or Al Waha, every other brand is just fine and dandy. The only time I have ever enjoyed El Nakhla is when I was messing around with my bowl a year ago and put a foil ring in between 2 layers of foil. Then the burning taste was not there.

Could it be that it needs to acclimate? Is the store that i get it from selling expired shisha? Or does El Nakhla just suck compared to starbuzz, romman and other premium shisha?

The Deal with it is that it's delicious.

Why you can't smoke it? I dunno, various reasons.

If you can always get Sb and AF to smoke well, why not just buy those brands?

I consider El Nakhla Low End. I always will. The only two flavors I get are Lemon and sometimes Apple.

I never go to buy it, when I am at the store and I see the Lemon or the Apple, I start debating whether I should get it or not.

It's just been around for a long time, so it has established its name with many people. El Nakhla was the first brand that I smoked when I started..it was not long until I switched to Al Fakher and other premium brands. Edited by Codename067

but nakhla is so much cheaper - if you can get it to smoke correctly, why not smoke it? Nakhla is low end in terms of price, but in terms of smoke, taste, etc, id put it at mid end with Al Waha. Upper-Mid end would be layalina, high end id put AF and Tangiers.

The price is not the first thing I look at when I buy flavors, so that was never a factor for me. It's all about flavor for me. Nakhla will smoke nice, I have pushed it to some limits, but the flavor was just getting old and very boring.

Back when I started and knew very little about flavors and stuff, Nakhla was good, and that was the most widely available brand in almost every smoke shop that sold Hookahs and such. As my collection started getting bigger, so did the different brands of tobacco. I bought and tested numerous brands, many disappointed me, until I got to Al Fakher, Layalina, and all these very smooth and flavor-full brands.

Let me put it this way:

I would quit smoking Hookah if El Nakhla was the last/only company to make flavored tobacco.

[with the exception of their Lemon...and Double Apple]

Hit and miss for flavor, but I always get semi-decent density out of Nakhla, and it only burns when I stop paying attention to the coals. Three knuckle-sized chunks of finger coal on a metal screen in a traditional bowl, and maybe cut down to two coals once things get going, and it always works for me. The mango was strange... in the cafe, it had a lot of flavor, very sweet with some subtle tartness. At home, it was mildly sweet and light on the flavor. Not sure if it's me or what, but everything else comes out nice.

first thing's first.. el nakhla does not suck sad.gif its a hit or miss brand and some flavours, like its apple are a classic.. i've never had any trouble getting thick smoke out of nakhla :S are you waiting for the coal to be completely ashed over? i remember when i first started smoking hookah, i used to throw on the quicklight when it was still black and it would make the bowl taste like straight ass :S

Oh, Nakhla mango is one that I wasn't impressed with regarding flavor, it was very light... good smoke still though.

yeah it is light. :/

i love nakhla dub apple >.< my first ever self-set up smoke
its my "nostalgia" smoke.

same here man..same here..

i do agree that a lot of the flavours are basic and you have to find your personal favourite. mine would be either cherry or strawberry. i hardlyy have nakhla burn and i have little to no heat management at all, all i do is plop the coal in the middle of the foil, put my foil windcover on and leave it. if it gets too hot, i just open up the foil cover and purge. that usually solves it. hardly ever gets burnt/tastes harsh. only thing that bugs me is that the shisha DOES burn and i would actually be able to smell burnt shisha (however no burnt shisha taste :S) Edited by mathuv
