What Is So Special About Km Hookahs?

Recommended Posts

The torrent you see is a Chinese knockoff of a Chinese (albeit well made) hookah. The forum's obsession for KM's is that they smoke very well and are great quality. I've used several in my smoking experiences. Great pipes but they are a tad expensive. I'm a big Magdy Zidan fanboy so I must recommend you an MZ from hookahcompany. They are a good deal cheaper than KM's with similar smoke quality and cleaner welds than a KM but the stem weight on the MZ is very light compared to a KM but just as solid. Go MZ, you won't regret it wink.gif

i own both a KM and MZ. both smoke very well, but the KM is made much better then the MZ, its more stable, the purge is better and the tray is much bigger then the MZ's (for those stray coals)

id go with KM over MZ anyday.

Yes all of the above. My Red Pear KM smokes like a dream. I am very happy with it. The pull is easy, even if I put my stem into the water too much, wink.gif (that is the beauty of a KM) and I get clouds of smoke that are awesome. KM all the way, you will not be disappointed.

I had a KM... Sold it because of the build quality was lacking.
I have a Syrian now, absolutely the best hookah I have laid my hands on. The quality is exponentially better then any Egyptian I have seen. All brass baby.

I have to agree with Twang but I want to add an Egyptian to my collection.

I have an old school KM and a newer KM and I love them both. The old style one is more solid and heavy than the newer KM though. But both smoke great.

I actually have an Ice Torrent as well and it's actually not that bad of a hookah.

The KM's are some of the last Traditonally made Egyptian hookahs available in the U.S. Those and Magdy Zidan's.

That's what so good about them. And they smoke well too.

But, as stated, Newer KM's are not as high quality. They know what they can sell in the US. MZ has kept their Quality, though.

KM have great rigs, but you should buy locally if possible to ensure high quality. Over the internet, they will just send you whatever.

They are no longer made with many brass parts now.

The downstems are terrible on most of their rigs. I hate to say this, but it's true. The Amer's had some of the last great downstems, along with the Hafas (now available again form HC).

I am all about buying hookahs locally. I feel more confident in completing a purchase after being able to inspect a hookah before I buy it.

I've heard a lot of people say that they're great pipes, but I can't recall ever hearing someone say why they're great pipes. Are they sprinked with magical fairy dust? Are they crafted by the dwarves of Khazad-Dum? Are they made with futuristic super-steel that mysteriously makes the smoke thicker and tastier?

I'm planning on getting one this summer if H-S gets them in (Only HC has halfway-interesting ones, and they don't ship to Canada), but it's because I just want an Egyptian to fill out my collection, and they're more interesting-looking than any other Egyptian I've seen... Nothing anyone has ever said about the KM has led me to believe that they're particularly good...

KM gives you hands down one of the best smokes you will ever have. If they werent so great people wouldnt be raving about them so much. I know that I would rather smoke my KM than any other pipe.

Bell Bottoms.
Pogs.
Dane Cook.
Hitler.

Shall I keep going or have I sufficiently demonstrated how ridiculous it is to assume that everything popular is good?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

They are Egyptian Style pipes. They are open to a wider range of problems than Mod hookahs (who of course have their own set) because of their Design and the materials they are designed with. With an Egyptian, you are paying for something that may or may not be anything like what it is described. When you buy a Mya, you are guranteed quality, Chrome coated Brass. Stainless steel is great as well, but KM's are not stainless steel; an in reality they could just be aluminum on the inside, how do you know? You don't. They smoke well by design, but so do Myas.

So it's just up to you. You want a full range of pipe designs from different countries? Go for it.
You want only Egyptians? All yours.
You want Myas up the ass? You got it.

Ohhh, and ot get back the OP.

There is nothing wrong with the the Torrent, the other person has obviously never used one. I believe H-S modified it to have a bunch of Mya parts.

Ohh and rhey are stupid to say "2 hose KM". Edited by ZenSilk
