PhishPhood
I listen to all relaxing chill music. The hardest I go is Dream Theater on occasion...If you haven't heard of them I suggest checking out liquid tension experiment. Its progressive rock.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=27...h&plindex=

Ralleac
QUOTE (Seanij @ Feb 7 2008, 03:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I wouldnt consider Nightwish metal, they're Rock/Opera.Meh. Not anymore in my opinion. Their new vocalist doesn't really do the band justice like Tarja did. I can't see myself buying into any of their albums in the future if they keep her on permanently. I have a lot of music around, but I've been a fan of Trivium, Disturbed, Nightwish, Rhapsody (and pretty much anything involving Luca Turilli,) Killswitch Engage, Skindred, Iced Earth, In Flames, Shadows Fall, and a number of other bands for a while. I like a few Dragonforce songs, but they aren't really one of my favorites even though they're good at what they do. I used to be a fan of Ax7 but pretty much all of their albums suck pretty hard aside from Waking the Fallen. thecoalition
well between the buried and me and bury your dead are two of my top choices but ever since the lead singer from bury your dead left last year the new guy....mediocre. i saw the new singer in action a couple weeks ago and heard the new jams from their 08 album but it fell a bit short. it has singy crap in it that doesnt really fit the bury your dead style.oh you could always tryout some throwdown. their last album was very much similar to good pantera. Shakes
Mastadon, Ministy and Emperor are my all-time faves. Greenhaven is a badass rockabilly metal band if you're into that sorta thing. Oh, and Superjoint Ritual and AssJack, they're two of Hank Williams III's metal bands.

St. Goodypants
I used to be a big metalhead, then a lot of it started to sound just like that clip above. So I stopped.I still listen to bands like KMFDM, Disturbed, Lamb of God, Rammstein, and Clutch. I'm not including Tool in that list because Tool goes so far beyond mere metal that it would probably be an insult.Oh, and by the way: Hardcore annoys the living hell out of me. Not because the music is inherently bad, but because everytime I've been in a mosh pit with a "hard core" band playing some stupid little prick with pants so tight you wonder if he even has a penis feels compelled to run into it flailing his arms and legs everywhere. THIS IS STUPID AND IF YOU DO IT NEAR ME I WILL THROW YOU INTO THE NEAREST WALL SO PISS OFF!Damn, talking about my metal days makes me want to go out and kick a screamo kid... Hard. SafeSearchOff
my friend went to a dimmu show last winter... was standing on the EDGE of a pit, trying to block/watch, got spin kicked in the face. his eye wouldnt stop bleeding he had to have surgery.edit:I want to see Nightwish in Jersey this may - but i've never been to a metal show before and frankly, im scared. It was always at hardcore shows. If I see someone kicking at a metal show I just jump all over them. Those people are meat. Shoulders and throws, shoulders and throws! Snoopy1966
Wow, I am out of the loop for new metal, I have not heard of any of those bands...lol. I do not listen to metal as much as I used to. I am old school Metal. Metallica, Manowar, and the likes. I prefer more classic rock and blues now. I still head bang to the old stuff once in a blue moon. thecoalition
well goody pants, the divergence between hardcore and metal has happened a while back and with it we have 2 moshing styles. At good hardcore shows you have the people who are into circle pits and do moves such as gorilla arms and pick up change. they two step and the like.At metal shows at least here in virginia we get these redneck ass military douches who come out and they just run back and forth pushing people or they walk through the hardcore dancers and just punch aimlessly. The last show I was at I was two stepping to a break down of a song where that is what the entire crowd was to do and some metal asshole came up and decked me in the back of the head and then pushed me. I said....wtf are you doing man? and he goes this is metal im here to fuck people up. so i said oh ok. let it slide and then next song, which was much harder i went right at him wall of death style. so i caught him in the eye and dropped his ass out of the concert. do not fuck with a richmond hardcore kid when YOU are out of place i says.normally hardcore moshpits are supposed to be people dancing and if someone falls you help them back up and so on. if you hit someone its not supposed to be like...YEA TAKE THAT...its like my bad man and you go on. Unfortunately the turn of hardcore bands gaining bigtime metal crowds .... i blame ozzfest 2005 because they sucked alot of hardcore bands into it. the metal crowds dont do the same style moshing so there is a block and misunderstanding.that leads to hardcore kids hating pure metal kids and visa versa.my .
SafeSearchOff
i know alot of mix metal-hardcore kids. i completely agree - not a good mix.but what I DO HATE is i went to go see killswitch a few months back, and all the hardcore kids started that bullshit where they just go in a pit swinging their arms like a fucking mace. right at the end of the song the lead singer was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT. I WANT TO SEE A FUCKING CIRCLE PIT, NOT LITTLE BOYS SWINGING THEIR ARMS LIKE PUSSIES.
thecoalition
yea i saw killswitch a week ago when they came through rva and they didnt say a word because i think they realized they were in a big hardcore town and when youre on tour with parkway drive, every time i die, and dillinger escape plan.....yea you cant really talk shit about hardcore.that and everyone was pissed because killswitch jacked their prices on merch up to like 40 for a hoody and 25 for a tshirt so all the other bands had to match that price because of the contract the tour managers had. so alot of people were pissed at that.every band but killswitch was like i want two stepping and dancing. so maybe its just the area.ive never really had a problem with kids being dumb except these new kids who are like 12-16 and they just dont know wtf they are doing. we need old bands like madball and earth crisis to come back full force to teach these mtv "punks" a lesson.
