Mya Gyro (red)

Recommended Posts

I ordered a Mya Gyro from Hookah Shisha and it arrived on Wednesday. It is a great hookah let me say, takes a bit to get going but once you start it up... It does not kid around. All I need now is some good Shisha to smoke because as of last night I ran out. I may have to place a tobacco order, just iffy about customs screwing me because I live in Canada. However the order with my Gyro contained Shisha tobacco and they didn't seem to complain.

Here are some pics, mind the mess all over, startin the spring cleaning early.

She sure is a beautiful hookah.

The base in all its glory, very quality I must say.

I like the engravings on here, quite abstract

The hose is amazing it feels like it weighs about a pound.

Old Hookah vs. New Hookah!

The very nifty carrying case...

Overall I am glad I made this purchase, and like I say I cannot wait to test it on some quality shisha. I am thinking Starbuzz? I think that would be a good time.

Gorgeous! Congrats on a new, bombass pipe.

Congrats.

I really like the old one too.

Thanks guys....

The old one I really had no input on where it came from or anything, so I don't really know much about it. Just that it was made in egypt, according to the box.

There are some styling cues that lead me to believe that it is an MZ. Look at the ash tray, does it have an imprint of something that looks like a globe cut sideways with arabic writing? The purge valve doesn't look like mine but check anyways. The "pear" MZ's are harder and harder to find these days.

Welcome to the brotherhood. I wonder how many of us have Gyros, seems like they are pretty popular right now. I have the green variety of the pipe, but I was interested in the red for a while. I think if it had a brass or gold colored cloisonne pattern I would have went with the red.

Careful with that base, it will run you 90$ if you break it! I don't let my friends even touch it (really, not at all) and I don't physically move it anywhere except to take it out and put it in its case, I fill it with water from a bottle on location when I am setting it up.

There are no markings on the ashtray at all. I suppose it could always be some sort of a knock off version of an MZ.

Ehh, either way, it looks great and looks like a great smoke. It's possible that it is of MZ's older line called Hookah Brothers. Brother mushrat has one from a few years ago and says its still his regular smoke.

Yessir I hear that. Although I had my old Hookah for 3 years and it went through quite a few drunken adventures with friends and never got damaged at all.

The only thing I might consider doing with the base is using it to blackjack my enemies because it is one solid unit.

Ya it is quite amazing how it has lasted for 3 solid years. The clay bowl is the only part to it that was damaged in its long lifespan so far.

Yeah, it does seem solid, but I have been to paranoid to even begin to rely on that. I have had way too many cheap bases ruined by clumsy slips and people dropping the vase while carrying it. Hey, I am curious, though... Does yours seem to be a bit top heavy? Mine kind of leans one direction, not much, just enough to be visible, and I can't quite tell if its leaning from the grommet, or if the ornemental bit on the stem is just crooked.

I was actually going to ask you something to that effect, I was wondering the other night. It did seem a bit on edge. I think it must be the way the ornamental casing shifts because it is not connected tightly to the stem.

How do you usually set it up for best possible smoke?

I usually go with the traditional water-level to down stem ratio, seems to work fine. I primarily smoke with funnels, because I primarily smoke tangiers, and the foil hole pattern I use is somewhat like Rayver's, but I only use one broken in half exotica for the hole smoke, taking off pieces and putting them back on to keep the heat level good. One thing I had an issue with when I first got the pipe was heat management, it smokes WAY different than my Syrians, so I had to learn to adjust for that.

*Edit*

Quick thought, I think I will find something to use as a spacer in between the casing and the actual stem and see if that fixes the issue. Its not that big of a deal, but I sometimes sit with it for hours... and that lean starts to.... get to me. Edited by Geiseric

That would appear to be a spoon. Perhaps for stirring shisha? I didn't even notice it. Now that I am looking at the case pic, I really hope you aren't actually closing the case like that, that heavy cloisonne hose handle will chip the shit out of your base.

Congrats and welcome to the proud Mya Gyro owners club! I haven't heard anyone knock it yet. Seems just like the fine KM models, this one is really popular and has a great following.

And so easy to clean! I've got a Nammor hose, and like it, but sometimes I just use the Mya hose, it's got a nice feel in the hand. Really well designed and executed dream hookah.

Haha, that would be a baby food spoon from when my mom was a child. So somewhere in the late 50's early 60's era.

And I was just really showcasing the case, that is not how I pack it up or anything.

The only thing I can see wrong is that you're wearing a Sox hat...

Sox hat was 10 bucks, my buddy owns a store and was selling his over stock I had like 6 random teams. I am more of a basketball fan.
