Looks like an Epiphone SG. Epiphone is made by gibson, so it kinda is one haha.

Epiphone SG was my first too. Eventually traded it in and got a fender strat which I love. It all depends on your play style though, I didnt like the humbucker. I wanted a cleaner sound.

Looks good though, good luck

Thats not an SG, they have both sides cut away. It looks like a Les Paul but doesn't have the same set up for the knobs. I'm not sure what it is either but enjoy and practice a lot. :-p

Yes, Les Paul with 2 knobs.

My first guitar was a Fender Strat(no joke) my dad really wanted me to get into guitar that bad. Now I have a Martin DXME

Martin guitars are the best out there, I paid 600 for mine, and that was the cheapest one they had.

ive seen that before. its a great starter guitar. after a while if u dont wanna replace the guitar, u might want to invest into some EMGs if your into metal or some seymor duncans if you want that real all around general good pickup. for now tho dont worry about effects of stuff like that, just play cause trust me, too many beginner guitarists start getting into effects way to early

Dreadnaut bodies are the greatest looking bodies ever, do you have a V-style neck as well?

EL's first was a Epiphone SG, man do i miss that thing XD I dont have a working electric guitar, let alone amp anymore. I need to get around to getting the parts and finishing rebuilding my Schecter. Right now i have a really nice Fender acoustic my friend bought me back when we were in a band together. I prefer to play acoustic anyways tongue.gif

Right on man... I love guitar..

It kinda sucks at first but as soon as you learn your first song you'll fall in love.

My first real song that I learned was Secret Agent Man, soon followed by The wind cries mary, which is STILL one of my all time favorite songs to play.

I had it easier which was nice, since I had a background in Violin for 8 years and Mandolin for about 2 before I picked up a guitar.

Just dont get discouraged. And it sounds like we got some knowledgeable people here who can help ya out with any questions.

biggrin.gif Just Cellphone pics. The pedal is the new zoom g2.1u... I have few others, but I am really digging this one right now. It's freaking awesome.

*Oh my first was the Danelectro in the back. They are better known for their collaboration with Sears making the Silvertone line... with basically the same parts, but the Danectro's... Came with a 15 watt tube amp built into the case. Not bad guitars, either. Nice tone, shitty parts. The casing on the pickups are LIPSTICK cases.* Edited by Geiseric

My first guitar was a strat copy.

I hate stratocasters now. I think it's because EVERYONE AND HIS UNCLE WALDO HAS ONE. wallbash.gif

I play an Ibanez AX7221 now. I ordered it off of Ebay from someone who had done a custom job on it. I'll try to post pics as soon as I can. I absolutely love the guitar and all the chunky sound that it can deliver.

Its definitely a Les Paul, I've played that model before, and the SG of that same style, Great guitars for beginners. Nothing too fancy on it, and great at taking abuse. People who are Fender and Gibson snobs can go to hell. Personally I dont like Fender or Gibson when it comes to my guitars. My 215 dollar Peavey Predator is about the meanest axe ive ever played, and it costs about an 8th of the amount as a "super cool fender" does.

I'll admit that i love telecasters, but they just dont work with what I play. Brands like ESP (LTD) and Michael Kelly make better "les paul" and "SG" styled guitars then Gibson or epiphone. IMO. The ESP Viper is much like an SG, half of the weight, and a bit more oblong shaped then the SG, but a quick playing guitar none the less. The ESP les paul models, i forget what they are called, look a lot more agressive then les pauls do.

Never judge a guitar by its name, but by its playability, and its versatility.

Zep, for reading tabs, this is how it goes.

usually the tabs will look like so

---------------------- This is the smallest.
----------------------
----------------------
----------------------
----------------------
---------------------- This is the biggest string.

Numbers go from left, to right, just like written english, the number represents which fret you hold for that note. If numbers are stacked, like this-

---2----
---2---- You play both strings at the same time. If you want more advise, im on MSN almost all day, so PM me for my add, if you want.

What style of music you into?

idk any thing from classic rock to screamo ..

i would really love to be able to play some incubus eventually, and zeppelin, and dispatch, smile.gif

Dispatch isnt that tough to play. I listen to them quite a bit... Try learning two coins first, then once you get better try the general.

Dont go trying to learn any stairway for a while, it will be nothing but disappointing and discouraging.

I would say learn these songs first:

-Two Coins by Dispatch
-House of the rising sun by The Animals
-Rocky Raccoon by The Beatles

They will each give you a different way of playing which will all help significantly, atleast in my opinion.
