Worst Experience Yet

Recommended Posts

Aight, I just tried packing my new starbuzz peach up, and it just keeps burning. I have experience with starbuzz, particularily citrus mint, and blueberry mist and I have no troubles with them. But now ive packed 3 bowls of peach trying to not get them to burn, and it just keeps crisping up. I gave up on it, and am now smoking blueberry mist.

Is there something I gotta do with the peach differently? Maybe less heat? anyone have any experience with that happening?

Thanks in advance guys. Edited by abeezstg

Try less heat. the only starbuzz i smoked was white peach [i believe that was it], along with another flavor i forgot which one it was.

that did handle a decent amount of charcoals and lasted sometime. Edited by Codename067

What kind of bowl/coals are you using?

Im using a standard clay bowl, 5 holes, and 33mm 3 kings, QL's. I usually keep one intact, then break one in half and keep it on the otherside. I think it may have just been eagerness to smoke it.

i highly doubt it is the shisha. i had some SB peach a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing. even better when mixed with SB vanilla. Peaches n cream. smile.gif it's probably heat management. try moving the coals to the edge when this happens and if it persists, then try taking the coals completely off and then pulling through it. wait a minute or so and then put the coals back onto it. eat management is not just about how you arrange the coals; it also has to do with how close your shisha is to the heat. so make sure that your bowl is packed light and fluffy but not all the way to the top. do not let any shisha touch the foil if you have had problems with that shisha. i have had that same problem with my Nakhla Mango. a whole bowl was just really tabacco-y tasting, so i knew that the shisha was getting burnt. moving the coals close to the edge or taking a coal off did not help. i had to just pack the next bowl a little lower. it may be that way with different tobacco flavors and brands.

don't throw out the shisha yet. try lowering the level of shisha and see if that helps any.

i hope this helps

Ive never had any luck with Starbuzz Peach - even with a perfectly cleaned hookah and just the right amount of heat for plenty of smoke, But never got ANY flavor.

more holes. try breaking the 33mm into 2 and putting it on opposite ends of the bowl, if that doesnt start it off then put a windcover on and when it starts off take the windcover off. or ur underpacking it.

I put them at the edge of the bowl all the time. I guess I just have to mess around with it some more. Theres no way im ditching that shisha, Ive heard to many good things about it to waste the 19 I payed for it, haha. Ill just hit the bricks again tomorrow and see what I can do.

yea i think your using too much heat and also try smaller holes/ a lil more of them. i've had the peach and it burnned fine. give a funnel bowl a try it holds the flavor longer and keeps it from burning as fast.

I put about 16-20 holes in it, with the very tip of a knife. I was just wondering because everything else I smoke seems to work just fine. Maybe I just posted because Im lonely, haha

I have found that some flavors are much more heat sensative than others. In particular, the lighter flavors seem to be more problematic. E.g. peach, some brands of mixed fruit, blueberry, etc. The best things to do have already been suggersted, which are to try less heat, vary (and rotate constantly) your coal position, and finally ot put less tobacco in the bowl. I would bet that less heat will fix you right up.

I've also noticed that the pipe you use can be a factor as well. For example, when I smoke my 32" Egyptian, I use two pieces of Easy Lite coals. If I use my Mya QT (same bowl, same tobacco), I use 1.5 pcs. of coal and a little different arrangement on the bowl.

As with anything hookah related, try a lot, and keep what works. Happy hookah-ing!

Sometimes when i use a coal that has been broken, like if i use a half a pice of a QL, some small particles will get really hot and start to srink because they are slowly deteriorating into ash and they get small enough to be puleld through the holes and get onto the shisha, burning it. i do not suggest using a broken coal if you are trying to get rid of the burnt taste. My SB Peach smoked well and was very juicy until I stored it improperly and most of the juice dripped out. It still smokes but not as well and seems more susceptible to burning now sad.gif . I find leaving a good amount of clearance between the shisha and tin foil has helped to prevent that as well as using a phunnel bowl to hold in what remaining juices are left.

if you don't have glycerin, you can add honey to moisten up SB as little bit. i has some SB honeyberry that lost a lot of moisture, so my wife squirted honey into it. i didn't think it would actually smoke well because i figured the shisha's honey is a different kind or i don't know. but it turned out to be one of my favorite flavors. the honey helped.
