CZHOOKAH
Hey everyone, I have been lurching around these grounds for a while but never registered because all of my concerns were answered. So, I am new here but not to hookahs. Anyways my question is I have been looking for some good natural coals to use. Within the last month, I have purchased two boxes of the Exotic coal. They are great coals. After I got over the hurdle of finding a way to break them (leather man suggestion found on these forums) I have been using them ever since. My question is, when I use my electric heater to light the coals they split usually in half horizontally. I let the coal sit on the electric coil until the whole coal is orange with a fine gray coating. Does anyone know why they are splitting? Are they getting too hot? Thanks in Advance. Johnny_D
How are you splitting them pre-cooking? This might be causing a problem. This is how I do it:-Take a steak knife. Locate the middle of the exotica strip and make a small cut. Then just snap it with your fingers.Do it again to cut it into 4's.JD
Webbles
Mine have always cracked a bit on top (the side i flipped over) even had some deep splits, but i have never had them split in half. Are you breaking them in half? in 1/3s? 1/4s? Ive found that they crack as deep if i break them in 1/4s. But i usualy breake mine in 1/3s and its more noticable (but still as effective).
