I've never opened a store myself but as a webdesigner I've set up a few ecommerce sites and help people do these things.

First and most important step is finding a reliable supplier. Don't even think about opening a corporation until you have that first.

Next step is opening the corporation. You have 2 options here.. pay a lot of money to have someone else do it or do it yourself cheap. If you’re going to do it yourself (which is easy) you have to find the division of corporations website for your state. In Florida for example its sunbiz.org. I've registered a corporation before and I think it was 75 dollars. When you file for a corporation you have to choose which kind,, S-corporation, C-corporation, Partnership, LLC, etc… All these are different tax classifications and you would have to check with an accountant on that. Most people register starting companies as LLC.

In about 2 weeks you get your articles of corporation. Once you have that go to this website http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/articl...=102767,00.html and apply for an EIN aka federal tax id number. You will also need to file for a sales tax certificate in your state.

Once you have the above steps done then your business is established and ready to sell product and tax them.

Shipping is easy... take your company information to UPS or USPS and set up an account. Both UPS, USPS and also fedex have online tools to make shipping a piece of cake.

Once you have that and your products all you need to do is set up the ecommerce site and get a credit card merchant for your website. That’s a whole nutha story.
