CarlKillerMiller
After making a pretty big order and getting my new shisha in (hookah-hookah, best we can afford. I think. Prove me wrong.) along with a box of Afzal coals, I haven't been able to get a single bowl to smoke well. I'm using a small tangiers phunnel with a mod in it and a KM amer (I think). So far, the only way we've been able to get a decent smoke is with three coals on the bowl, although that turns ridiculously harsh in short order. Splitting the coals in half hasn't proven at all successful, as I don't really know how. I've tried using a large knife and a cleaver, but no dice. It breaks the coal into two pieces, along with about a third of a coal in dust. The pieces burn for maybe 5-10 minutes, then go out. Those are the things I can fix, hopefully. The things I can't fix:The Afzal coals are terrible. No coal taste, but the amount of noxious smoke they leave after being lit makes the apartment smell like pure death for about 15 minutes. What to do?But yes. People who know a whole lot more about hookah than I do. Please help.
Codename067
Just use different coals?Try the Phunnel with no mod and see how that works? I never use mods.Dirty Hose?Dirty Hookah? Edited February 16, 2008 by Codename067
Elky
Try using a serated knife to split up the coals, that should help somewhat.
Boersnoes
How about just plain breaking the coals?Don't know about yours, but with 3K it is perfectly doable..How about putting an extra sheet of foil?
shoulinmonk
isn't the funnel designed for juicy shisha? the hookah-hookah i have is relatively dry, could this be your problem?
Seanij
How are you packing the mod? You might be packing wrong.
MechAnt
Get better at packing a standard bowl before you even try a phunnel. HH is subpar shisha in some aspects and Afzal coals BLOW. For similar price of HH, you can easily get Nakhla or Layalina. Much better tobaccos. For good coals, get pretty much any naturals and for QL's, get 3kings, pharaohs, or Goldens. The Devils Playground
OKay heres the 411. To start ditch that bowl for this project/ tobacco.use a modern bowl. Break the tobacco up nicely. From there fill to to the rim. Foil lots of holes. 1 3-kings coal in the center. Make a foil tent on the top to regulate heat. Smoke and enjoy.Yup thats all it takes. HH is hard to screw up you should be proud. But seriously its an easy one to get lots of smoke from. But for sure use a modern bowl. Not to deep and the tobacco will burn all the way 1 bowl 1 coal. Stinkyfisherman
when i wanna break a coal i use a thumb tack and poke small holes in a line, it creates a stress point so when I go to break it it snaps right in half.
