Smoking In Your Room

I agree on the "their house their rules", I can't smoke anything in my house because my parents don't smoke. Once in a while I can do incense in my room for meditation, especially considering my dad does the same. The reasons I can't smoke that I know is: It can stain the walls, odor, and with the hookah(although I never asked, its assumed) I could easily burn the carpet as I have done here at my apartment. I'm gonna ask about the hookah when I'm home next. I'm more careful now and keep it on a solid surface like wood everytime I smoke, so I will not do damage.
I'd try educating them and show responsibility with it to them, maybe then they may let you.

bad idea...you do NOT want to drop hookah coal onto a wood surface (unless its scrap wood) for a base i'd suggest some floor tiles. If my parents told me to stop smoking in the house period, i'd stop. (they dont like hookah at all because of its association with NHT and theyre anti-smoking too) If they give you a reason, try explain to them that yes, hookah smoking is harmful but its better than cigarette smoking...my parents read the bullshit WHO "200 cigarettes = 1 hour of hookah" report....make sure they dont read that. a lot of people tend to beleive it, being from WHO and all. try and find a good, non-biased independant study.

What's so hard about being careful and not to drop the coals?

If you knwo you cant be careful then maybe try to put extra foil as a barrier? but seriously lol...

@thread: i've never had problem with the smell, it goes away really fast, not fast enough if you're hiding it tho, maybe smoke it next to the window or do what they posted in the pics, but seriously, does it worth to smoke w/o the smell of the shisha burning? i think it's a big part of it, at least for me

yeah just open a window and use a fan, depending on the type of shisha and coal used it can take a bit longer. i always make sure though that i lite my coal by an open window or outside ( i use quick lites) and the smell normally disapates in a few hours.

You should worry more about a coal incident and less about the smell. The carpet in my old bedroom at my parents' house suffered some small burns from coals exploding when trying to do heat management and from coals randomly sparking. The living room carpet in my apartment has suffered small burns from someone doing heat management as well. I suggest buying a cheap rug or something to protect the carpet in your bedroom. Crack a window when you smoke or after you smoke. The shisha smell doesn't last long but a coal burn lasts forever.........

In my old bedroom I took the extra carpet left behind by the builders and carved some small sectional pieces and super glued them into the burnt holes. That is after I took the knife and cut out all the blackened parts in the carpet. It's time consuming and a pain in the rear, but it worked. I'm hoping that when my fiancee and I move out of our apartment, we could get the deposit back on it. I'm going to see if there's any extra carpet lying around anywhere.... Maybe in the closet or something... Time to get the ol' exacto knife out. wink.gif

If your parents are against it, respect their wishes i would say.

If they don't mind you smoking and you're worried about the smell:
For me, smoking with the window slightly opened is enough to stop any bad smell from lingering. Just make sure to light quicklights by sticking them outside the window untill they stop crackling. Also : Use the better brand of quicklights. Cheaper less known brands tend to stink something fierce. Last week my father came to my place and i had used some unknown coals, lona or lola quicklights or something, and he was convinced i smoked NHT. Three kings is virtually scentless once lit, good option.. Edited by Majid

Yea turn on the fan, but that would be bad for good smoke. What I do so no one around the apartments figures out that I smoke is burn incense. No one can even tell that i've smoked hookah cuz the incense are very strong.

Unless you're smoking straight Zaghoul isn't burning incense a little much? My landlords have commented on how good my apartment smells on after a good smoke, haha.

Yea I could do that. If I get cought smoking anything, even the hookah, I'll have to pay an extra $75 a month and I dont wanna do that so if anyone ever ask about the smell its incense and not the hookah. I wish my landlords smoked hookah then i'd be set... now that I think about it im gonna ask them if they do.
