theshishahouse
So We are thinking about serving Tangiers (we already served the F-line) at our lounge. We have Orange soda, Peach Iced Tea, Brambleberry and Schnozberry. How long do we have to acclimated each?tx
PhishPhood
When I get it I ususally throw it in tupperware or some container then let it sit open for about an hour or so. Then I close it up, and leave it with my hookah stuff. Before I pack my bowl I pull it out and open it then stir and leave it for another 10-15 mins.If you leave it for a day or a night like some people do, I feel like its gonna dry out too much.. Acclimation isn't as big a deal as some people make it though. I've gotten tangiers right from the mail and smoked it 10 mins later and its been fine. Bulldog_916
is it just really heat sensitive? cuz i had only 2 1/3s of an exotica on mine and it smoked harsh as hell
Oggie505
I usually do the initial acclimation for 3-4 hours, after that I do not re acclimate it when I smoke
mdl
It's humidity that interferes with the tobacco. You need not worry about it drying out over night, in fact, I have left containers of Tangiers Tobacco out for a few days (indoors) and it hasn't dried out. I also store them in not so air tight containers and the tobacco never dries out.As Oggie said, 3-4hrs should be enough acclimation time and once the initial acclimation has been done there's no real need to do it anymore since the tobacco will be used to the environment it is being smoked in.You have to make sure to stir the tobacco up very well before using as the flavoring/juices will drain to the bottom of the container when left alone for a while. What Eric told me today was that the best way to look at scooping out tobacco is like slicing cake; you don't slice cake horizontally or you'll only get just the icing, you need to slice vertically. This ensures a consistent amount of juice with each bowl.Good luck with serving Tangiers at your lounge and I'm sure your customers will enjoy it! Bulldog_916
I smoke outside though and keep my baccy inside....how do i handle that situation?
theshishahouse
Well, we have been serving the F line (choco and Peach) for the last 6 months (tx to MN hookah (we love you guys here, you know) and HC (thanks for your latest shipment, you made it through), but beside that we serve only starbuzz and alfaker as premiums. We wanted a change as I (my wife doesn't smoke as much i do^^) got bored with it.As of today, i am going to serve orange soda. from Tomorrow Iced tea peach. in the future, for the common good, it would be nice to know the minimum time to acclimate any flavor. best regardsfred

Snoopy1966
Some flavors do need the acclimation time. Some flavors I can smoke within an hour also. I go by smell more then time. When you get a consistent smell of the flavor when you stir it up while acclimating then it is ready to enjoy.I got some Tangiers Guava and this was the wettest tobacco I have received from Tangiers. The cut is much smaller too. I am getting massive clouds now
SafeSearchOff
last time i got a shipment of tangiers i acclimated it for a good 12 hours or so... but it was kinda by accident cuz i left it out and then went to work
Oggie505
inside and outside are sometimes the same unless you are in a harsh place, like in the south in the summer, then you need to acclimate it outside. When i was in college in savannah, Ga, I used to acclimate my stuff by an open window in the summer and it worked to be able to smoke outside of the dorm
Bulldog_916
So I get the feeling I just have to spread the heat more evenly. Instead of using 2 3rds of an Exotica, use 5 8ths of one spread over the funnel evenly. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.
thecoalition
initial acclimation i do is 6 hours. stir it up every 2 hours. seems to work thus far as i never seem to have harshness problems.after that just throw a lid on and then whenever you smoke while you light the coals take the lid off stir it up good and pack that junk. Tecnorobo
Mine is currently acclimating. The waiting game sucks.I'm gonna have it acclimate for 3 1/2 hours, stirring every hour and we'll see how that does it.
