First Bowl Of Tangiers

I won't be surprised if this bowl starts burning 20 minutes in...It's not enough that the holes are big, but they are way too close to each other.

Anyone else do their holes like that? I probably do half of that, and half the size.

From the size of the holes, I would say he used the needle at the end of the tongs. I use a tooth pick every single time.

i do the holes practically the same way (eric makes the holes this way) but i use a knife end. bowl lasts for 3-4 hrs with tangiers tobacco packed like this, easily.

Do you use a similar amount of coals?

My coals are probably way hotter than these bricks. I can not afford to do holes that big.

i haven't tried the coals you use yet. i did buy the big bag lol. to be honest they aren't that much hotter than the jap ones, they last longer however.

the price is awesome but im not digging the flavor of them too much. we'll see, im out of tangiers right now but as soon as i get some ill try these coals with these holes.

i normally use 3 jap coals and a wind cover if needed.

You might be getting an odd flavor due to the fact that they are not 100% done? because I get no odd flavor.

I am assuming that they are hotter because

1. It says it on the label
2. My friend and I used to toss these jap. coals back and forth to each other, literally [silly little game i dared him to do with me lol], we did them with these coals...never again, lol.

which jap coals? the golden canary are hot, but not for very long.

i made sure the coals were uber ready, they were all white. i fanned them and everything.

the taste they add isn't bad or nasty, its a little woody. maybe i have a sensitive palate

and yeah, my friends and other people that smoked using these charcoals had nothing bad to say about them.

as for which jap coals, i forgot their name, this was long ago, i know it was not golden canary.

The bowl actually lasted a good 3 hours before I packed in for the night and went to bed. I do the holes like that every time I smoke Tangiers and it has yet to fail me. I used an oyster fork to produce the holes.

Also, once you have acclimated the tobacco for the initial acclimation there's no real need to acclimate it again unless the humidity where you are smoking has changed significantly. Edited February 20, 2008 by mdl

I just bought a sampler pack of this as well, and I cant get it to smoke right. We taste alot of tobacco, but not much flavor. And the smoke seems kinda "warm" compared to other brands that we smoke (mainly starbuzz) even though the base has a bunch of ice in it.
So by acclimate, you mean just leave it out to breathe?
Ive been putting it in glad ware containers, should I leave it in its bags to keep more moisture?

yeah i've noticed that, in a tobacco my friend brought back from dubai, the smoke was really "warm" going down the throat and flavourless but not harsh. it had no flavour, felt like warm-hot water but no harsh taste :S

The same flavor does get boring.. thats why I have two phunnels Smoke some Peach Iced Tea one night, next day smoke some cool strawberry, later that night smoke that same bowl of peach iced tea I just hate wasting shisha!

I have two Phunnel Bowls and I do the same thing. Save the tobacco man! For my small Phunnel bowl I have it down to a science on a 3 to 3 and a half hour bowl. Everything smoked up!

I always wanted to buy extra bowls and start up all my 4 hookahs and just have a Tangiers sampler Platter going on. I'd burn through coals like crazy though.

If your unexperienced with hookah/higher nicotine, you'll get knocked on your ASS. It floored two of my buds who smoke like chimneys, damn near got me too.
