Broke My Vortex Base, What To Do Now?

Recommended Posts

I broke my Mya Vortex base the other day, it felt like I had lost a child.

I'm sort of lost as to how to go about replacing it... I usually shop through hookah-shisha, in looking at their Base replacement section I see one which I think is a Vortex, also one called the Obelisk? Does anyone know if my Vortex stuff would fit on the Obelisk base, or should I just go ahead and get another Vortex base? Does anyone know if one smokes better than the other? I always loved my Vortex, maybe I should just get another...But then again my friend keeps her hookah at my place and it was also a green Vortex, same as mine, so maybe it would be cool to have something a bit different. Does anyone around here have an Obelisk or know how they smoke?

To be honest I'm having trouble thinking rationally about hookah right now. Yesterday I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new hookah and was torn between Mya or not, now I don't know what to do base-wise.

Thanks for any advice.

P.S. Hard to say how much of this was b/c of me being stupid and how much was the whole "Mya has weak glass" thing. Certainly I was surprised when it broke (while cleaning it) but as a college student who smokes hookah in crowds of inebriated youth fairly often, I've had hookahs fall over a few times and always knew it might happen regardless of weak glass or not. i would just order a new vortex base, i have a mya vortex and it smokes great, i think that that oblisk one isnt threaded so there is no guarentee that the stem of your vortex would fit. You would have to buy grommets and all that stuff.

I have both the vortex and obelisk... Switch is right in that the obelisk isnt threaded, so it wont screw in, but it is a close fit. All you'd have to do to get it to fit is just get one of the mya vase grommets and then it will fit in quite nicely.

What we do for customer here at the shop when they break say a Vortex is sell them a new base for the whoesale price. The obilisk is a press fit so it will not work. I am sure you could ad spacers to convert it. But the Vortex is a threaded.

I would say see who carries vorteses and contact them on a base for that machine and get it back up and running.
