Km Hookahs

Recommended Posts

This whole KM love affair is very fad-ish. KM, MZ, MYA are ALL fantastic pipes. Anyone with lots of experience with all those pipes can't argue that. It's just that because some people drool over the fact that KM's smoke well and push that fact, others without a broad experience with different pipes will believe it to be true. I will say now that my favorites from top to bottom is as follows: MZ, MYA, KM, Syrians, Others. Why can I say this? Because I've had lots of experience with all those different kinds of pipes and can compare them on equal ground.

Why do I love my MZ? Extremely clean welds (you can't even see them!), cheap price (priced $30 cheaper than closest KM on HC), great nickel plated shine, and overall build and smoke quality. I can say KM's smoke great but I don't like them so much because they have messier welds and the fear of lower quality galvanized steel in the pipe which is very prone to rust. It's just because KM is a brand name that people want it so badly. SS sold MZ's for as long as we've all known and people LOVED them. The fact that they were MZ's was only discovered a month or so ago. People loved them even if they didn't have a brand name.

And I hate it when people bash MYA so much. Just because all the posts we see here are about how the base on their MYA broke, lots of people believe that MYA bases suck. THEY DON'T! There are only a few that do. A few of us with lots of experience have been saying this for ages but no one listens. MYA'S NON-FROSTED BASES ARE ROCK SOLID! Their frosted ones are thin and fragile. Another little known fact, MYA stems are brass except for a few parts. This is because their stems completely disassemble for easy cleaning and easy to replace parts.

So people, claim shit when you have the experience and can rightfully say something.

I've got a KM, an MZ, and several Myas, and to be perfectly honest they all smoke slightly differently, but it really is personal preference. I put my Myas as #1 overall for sure, and I'd say even their frosted bases are quite sturdy. If you're careful with your base and not dropping/throwing it, then it's not going to break tongue.gif

So from what i am understanding people are bashing mya due to the fragility of the bases. I actually emailed mya and asked them about this situation. The bases of the hookahs are GLASS, and glass can break when not careful. So the fact that some bases are slightly thinner than others shouldnt be a problem. If everyone took care of their hookahs the way i do and are very careful with setup and takedown, the glass should never break. I have a mya vortex atm with a frosted glass base and have had no problems at all with it. New Mya Staff on the way on friday. So i guess my point is dont make uninformed opinions on a brand wether it be KM, MZ, or MYA. All are great hookahs and all meet different needs. Every hookah has the possibility to be bad, if not taken care of and set up poorly. And as well, nearly every hookah can be exceptional if given proper care and set up right.

I have 3 Myas that have the frosted glass bases, I travel with one frequently and move them around a lot and haven't had the least bit of concern about breaking them.

However, there is no question that between a Mya frosted base and a KM/MZ base, the Mya is the weakest. Imo that shouldn't be a deciding factor unless you're very clumsy/sloppy with your hookahs.

which i understand, thats why i am glad though i can get the exact base as a replacement becuase i love the look of my hookah. And i am an overly careful person with it, no scratches, dents ect.

I talked to a guy that works at one of the local hookah bars that uses the Mya Vortex base on all their hookahs (20+) and he says in the past few months since they started using them, there's only been one breakage. Apparently this is on par with the amount of breaks they had when they used to use all egyptian hookahs.
