Common Chamber

Recommended Posts

i have been getting a lot of hate toward mya lately, which i dont really understand. i have smoked a lot of hookahs and ive never smoked one that was terrible, unless it was just not taken care of by the person who owned it. But what is the problem with the common chamber on mya hookah's?

the purge on common chambers isnt as good as the purge on traditional chambers. other then that ive had no difficulty with them.

The difference is in the build. Mya bashers are just stupid and have never owned a Mya. Myas are great, easy to clean, take a TON of abuse, easy to Mod. it's the glass bases that are the problem, but they get replaced fairly easily. SOme Mya stems are chrome coated brass, which is just awesome. The only brass parts in some KM's is the "Core" (which in reality means nothing in regards to rust, because the downstems are shit on most KM pipes).

I would say you would get a bit better smoke in each pull for various physics reasons involving vacuums and such. My KM does hit better than my Mya. But my Mya is more practical for common use.

Mya Stems and Mya Bases are different, most poeple hate Mya's because of weak glass; but you could just buy a KM, generic Egyptian, Acrylic, or HookahHookah/Saharasmoke vase and you'll be fine. Most Mya hookahs are mixed and matched anyway.

Uhhh, the "core" is the middle of the downstem. Probably the most important part to be made of brass, hence it wont rust. Which is why a brass "cored" KM or any other Hookah is a good investment.

Sooo, yeah. That's not exactly correct.

Although, I agree, people shouldn't bash em til they try em. I'll be driving up to the real MYA store in Sterling, VA where their home is sometime soon to buy my a MYA.

I love Mya's only thing worth complaining about in my opinion is how the Ash Tray sits on the Top of the stem. It doesnt snap into place it just sorta rests there and makes you wonder if your coals are too close to the grommet that could melt.

meaning you can't fully clear out the stale smoke left in the chamber, only about half or so comes out, which for 90% of smokers is totally fine lol

You should be hitting it enough the smoke wont get stale. If you dont and it gets stale you deserve the gross smoke biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Nah man. Core is the middle of the stem, going from the top down through the heart. It's a single tube that runs down the middle of the Egyptian Stem, and the rest of the stem is around that tube, so the stem itself is hollow with a core. The downstem is in fact NOT connected to the Core in any way, the downstem is in fact welded onto the bottom of the heart. KM downstems tend to be shoddy metal, i know this form multiple experiences, but some pieces have good metal. The Bell is easily prone to quick rust when not dried properly as well.

If KM's had brass DOWNSTEMS they in fact would be my top choice for all around hookah. But they hardly have stainless downstems. Except the Mash'al, it's nickel plated, a step up for KM.

why is the "purge" so incredibly important. I dont think my friends and i have ever had to really blow into the hookah, more than 1 or 2 times a session and thats just cuz we are talking a whole bunch. but even when that happens, it seems to release all the smoke in the hookah and the good flavor comes right back

I don't even know how to purge my hookah haha

Purging is when you blow into the hose to release the smoke trapped in the vase without having to inhale it. Most single hosed hookah have a purge valve and some multiple hose hookahs also have them (Mya's with an adapter and such).

lol, peoples always bash on mya because "their bases are too thin"

this only came up when they switch glass companies.

since they got it figured out there hasnt been to many problems.

the only real problem was that sometimes a radical heat change in the glass would cause it to crack or break.

for fucks sake, its glass, it has a tendency to do that. and its not meant to be a a bouncy ball.
