One of the consistently top-rated places is Sahara East. I have been there a few times; it is a lovely atmosphere. The prices are so-so (food & drinks are quite pricey). They do make a great Turkish coffee. Very nice patio, even in the winter. There are a number of other places as well, but like Sahara East they are almost all (in Manhattan, anyway) in the East Village. Google Maps is your friend, though.

Dude... sahara east is overrated. I was a die-hard and loyal customer until they let their business go to their head. They are on 11th and 1st ave in Manhatten. Decent lounge but i'm partial due to service i've gotten there in the past. Isis on Avenue A around 9th street is my favorite. The owner's name is mustafa. Best business person i've ever met. I went in there to talk to him quick about opening my lounge and he sat me and the 6 people i was with down at a table, brought over 4 hookahs, mango juices for all, dessert for all, sat down and started smoking with me and chatting about the business. I went in at about 9pm and ended up leaving at 4am. We went through 6 packs of hookah and when i went to pay him he said it was all on the house. Place is clean, great flavors, nice outside patio. There's a couple of others that i've been too down in the lower manhatten region around the village. You can just walk around and run into them everywhere. Most of them aren't online so don't bother looking. Go in and just walk around. I'm about 45 min outside of the city and if you want to meet up and hit up some of the hookah bars let me know. My sn on aim is billysoco7 and my email is billysoco7@aim.com. Or just PM me.
