There is a thin red line on my lcd screen on my laptop :S its one pixel wide and goes from top to bottom... In order to clear it i either have to move the laptop for awhile till it goes away or push the left side of the screen forward and hold the right side back..any idea on how to fix it?

i have a presario v6000 by the way

Yea man your LCD is going out, rather you have a line of pixels out. A magnet won’t fix it that only works for tube TVs and really that only works to mess it up. For a tube you have to degauss the tube. How old it is and if you have a service plan on it take it in.

you might be bowned.

When it's an entire line from top to bottom, it means the panel is dying. The cable goes through the hinge, so you can confirm by seeing if you can make the line appear and disappear by moving the display around without moving the hinge. If you can do that, it's the panel. Otherwise, a loose connection is possible and worth checking out.

Is your computer still under warranty? My experience is that panels either go very quickly (probably defective) or take years of abuse before quitting. That's why I also get a long warranty on laptops (3-4 years, however long I think I'll have it) because I carry mine around and know that they don't last like I want them to.

It's either a bad panel, or a broken ribbon cable. Panel likely if you have beat the crap out of it, flex cable if you open/close allot. In either case, it's going home to the mfgr to get fixed.
