hookah hippie
Seems pointless I like the bubbly sound hooray for bubbly sound
shisha fan
i have one. i use it when i`m watching a movie and don`t want to be distracted by the bubbling sound.it also makes the smoke a slight bit smoother with certain shishas (tangiers, nakhla)
mackiain
I was thinking about getting one, but I really have no need for it.
MechAnt
There is a cheaper alternative that works well..... BENDY STRAWS!I notice a little bit smoother smoke and very much reduced bubbling noise. Its nice for watching a movie or something.

jfaltous
For the mya vortex, the smaller of the 2 diffusers fits perfectly. Nice and snug, but not tough to put in place.

jfaltous
For the standard Mya downstem you definitely don't need to cut anything... it doesn't even take much force.. if you cut it then the thing will be liable to fall off while in use
sss8789
I use it religiously but I recently smoked without the diffuser and I think I like the rumble better
Perrj99
I do the straw trick as MechAnt pointed out. Does the trick and is uhh...pretty much free. So that's a plus.
hinrg
I use one of these when I smoke in my room. It keeps the noise down so I don't get caught by my parents .Won't be an issue next month, as I moving out for good.
D00M
My vase was made a little bit unevenly so it rocks when you smoke it.. I made one using an empty 35mm film canister, a soldering gun, and a bowl/stem seal.*edited to add*Oh yeah, it makes my vase rock a whole lot less violently. MechAnt
Gr!m, a tip for you when using the bendy straws, cut them so you can tailor them to a nice size. Here's a visualhttp://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showt...amp;hl=diffuser

I don't notice any smoke difference but it does make it nice and quiet which is a plus. Also if you have water in the hose problems this would cure it for only 99 cents as opposed to $10 + shipping.
