.DowN.
Hey everyone,Damn, I've had this horrible cold that has finally started to go away, really uncomfortable to smoke hookah with it anyway . But just the other day, I went to my local store, and didn't have enough money for some Al Fahker, which I normally get. I got a flavor by Nakhla called Tropicana. I have really only seen it at my local hookah bar, and they use it as well. I tried it on mine, and well, it seemed to get really harsh. I know I'm setting it all up right, but I never get stale or harsh smoke with Al Fahker. Is there something I can do to fix it with the Tropicana? Oh and by the way, I'm smoking it through a Mya Solo, with pretty much everything stock on it still. Thanks In Advance
zeppyrkr
have you smoked nahkla before, i find it different and actually ive never gotten it to smoke well either i just gave up though but i guess you just got to work with it, is it good at all i remember mine would get harsh after about 10min or so but i did get okay smoke for a very short amount of time. .DowN.
Yeah, I actually smoked Nakhla before anything else, when I first started smoking, then I found other brands. The Tropicana has a very, almost intense 'Tropical' flavor, very strong almost, but good flavor. Don't know, it could be you need to set it up a little different than the standard way I'm used to. I actually have before tried adding a little honey to some other Nahkla, and it did actually turn out right well, not harsh what so ever, and smoke was somewhat decent. Just might need to mess with it some.
shoresidejake
yeah nahkla is tough to smoke... make sure you let it acclimate for a good few hours to tame it down before smoking it. i also find nahkla a little on the dry side, so i always mix mine with honey before packing it. .DowN.
Yeah, I will go and try to acclimate it here in a little bit, see how that does. I will post any other updates or concerns. Thanks Guys
r1v3th3ad
I find it best to pack it loose in the bowl, that always gives me the best smokes with Nakhla, whereas you would pack something like Al Fakher kinda tight...give that a try too

I take 250g's of nahkla, add about 15ml's of honey and about 10ml's of glycarin and mix like the devil! But don't be afraid of packing a fair bit in the bowl. Also I find nahkla likes a lot of heat and is not afraid to be touched by the coals. Remember some of Nahkla's original tobacco is zahgoul - Coal straight on the tobacco!JD Edited February 24, 2008 by Johnny_D

Johnny_D
You know you could *SERIOUSLY* go off some people.....Nahkla for us in the uk is retailing around $19.
.DowN.
Yeah Nakhla is pretty cheap, but the Tropicana for some reason runs a few dollars more, I think it's one of there 'signature' flavors, just by looking at the box. I would have a picture but my girlfriend stole my camera, as most girlfriends do .
shoresidejake
wow... what do you mean "off" people? lol... Nahkla at my local shops sell for around $3.49 - $7.99 a box!

mathuv
well it IS cheap but i dont want to end up with 250g of stuff i dont like smoking :S yeah i think tropicana runs a bit more though, like chocomint.. i dno its the same price for everything here.. its around $5 for 250g here Edited February 24, 2008 by mathuv
shisha fan
i can get it now for 7 euros ($10) for 250g, which is a pretty good deal around here. i still like nakhla, even though i have all the other premium brands. nakhla is the stuff i started on and it never dissapoints me, always a consistent good smoke.the trick is to pull the pieces of tobacco apart and pack it somewhat loosely. .DowN.
Alright, well I am letting my Nakhla acclimate, but roughly how long should I let it sit out in my room for? So far its been I would say 10 minutes. And one more little thing, considering I have the Mya Solo, stock bowl and whatnot, I use 3 Kings Quick Light Coals, not sure what size but its the bigger of the two Quicklights. What would be the recommended coal usage for it? I really only use 1, somtimes 1 and a half.

Johnny_D
Mathuv's right.I normally acclimate mine for a couple of days - just out of habit. And fanny around with the coals until find what works for you.Right now I have some nahkla cherry in a wide bowl with 3 1/4's of a stick of exotica. Single layer foil. Smokes good - nice clouds, good flavour. I'm sure you will get it!JD
