A Few Questions About Mya Hookas

Recommended Posts

I have a 3 hose rotating comet from H-S and I really like it but I've realized its a just too much of a hassel to set up for a solo session and is only really good for a party. So now I want to get a smaller pipe and its between the mya nou nou, mya qt, and mya solo. I hear great things about the pipes themselves but the bowls suck so will any bowl work on a mya or do I need to use the bowl that comes on the pipe? And out of these pipes are they baisically the same thing just with differient bases or is one better than the others? I'm kinda favoring the Nou Nou because I find that pipe to be the best looking out of the three I listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use any bowl you want with the Mya hookahs. Only thing you might wanna do is get a bigger bowl grommet for it because the grommet they provide is really small and only really works with the stock bowl that it comes with. As for your second question, I believe that all three of those are relatively the same but I have heard nothing but good things about the Mya QT.

I have a QT and it's good for the size. The one thing that i HATE about the Mya's is that the inside of the stem is very course and rough on the inside, that means that your brush is extremely innefective, the best way to wash a Mya is to take it apart and give it a toss in the diswasher...

Honestly, I'm more of a fan of handmade arguilehs, machined pipes i.e. Myas are well made and solid but to me (I have a QT and a Vortex) but I think it takes away from the whole traditional appeal...and plus the rough texture makes them super hard to clean...I'd look at Arab groceries if there are any around you. It would be cheaper and easier to clean than buying a Mya online. IMO

im a big fan of the handmade ones too, but i must admit theyre kinda hit or miss. you might get a good pipe and you might get a bad one. the one i bought is really good, only downside is cleaning but the one my friend bought (from the same guy) had his bowl split from the heat and the base grommet is too small to provide a good seal. I think mini, machined hookahs are more convenient for those solo sessions.

All of those are good personal session hookahs. Even with a couple people, its not a problem. As far as the gaskets go, differen't bowls will use different sized gaskets. Keep a variety and you shouldn't have a problem. I find that the gasket it comes with fits perfect with the funnel bowl : )

They can be hit or miss, but at least the pipe is right in front of you so you can check it out right before you buy it. I would much rather look at it and have it in my hand, rather than look at a picture online and hope that the perfection of what's on the page seeps into the cardboard box which will be at my house in a few days...but if it isn't, no personal Hookah.gif for a while, you'll have to send it back, and they'll send you a new one. I'm not part of some sort of anti online conspirator, just some reviews I've read about pipes bought online make me iffy about online shopping.

you probably already know this, in general, and especially when it comes to buying an arguileh, stay away from smoke shops if at all possible. You're asking for the shop owners to make your bank account "go down faster than a Thai hooker", that's in the experiences I've had

I'd for sure go for a small Mya if you are smoking solo. They are VERY easy to clean when you're done, VERY easy to use, VERY easy to set up. They smoke a bit warm, but DUH. Ice the base a ton if ya must (unless you wanna be FUNKEE!).

P.S: Del wasn't at the Swollen Members/Hiero/Blue Scholars Concert so i am grieving... wallbash.gif

not all small hookahs smoke warm, my friends mini hookah smokes as cool as my large hookah and ice also takes away some of the flavour.

I bought a Hobo Hookah and then because people raved about it got a Mya QT. No comparison for me, the Hobo Hookah makes really thick and good smoke and the unstable tippy QT is just so-so. Plus the base is kind of ugly.

For a good smoke, coolness of design (except for the sucky fact that it has no purge valve which is not a showstopper), and portability, hands down my vote is with the Hobo. If I were in the states I'd sell you my QT at half price and I just got it, but I wouldn't part with my Hobo. Your mileage may vary. For favorite it vies with my Mya Gyro for king of the Alhambra smile.gif
