Unrelenting
QUOTE (St. Goodypants @ Feb 27 2008, 09:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>If you have a 2+gb pen drive you can follow these instructions to back up your files by running Linux from your flash drive:http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/09/28/us...gibbon-install/You can also set up another hard drive with another xp installation and just copy the files you want to save onto it before you get rid of the old drive. I'm assuming that you are going to get a new one because this one seems to be more or less fried. This would probably be the easiest procedure.I don't have a flash drive, but when I get one, does it have to be 2gb? because I need something slightly bigger I have over 3000 music files.. SupremeOstrich
Hmm, I work as a computer tech and 5/10 times it's the power supply. Maybe either get a tester or take it to your local shop and have it tested. They're really easy to replace. Barring this, a lot of times a system rollback does it. I just use ERD Commander for this.I haven't read all of the posts, and that one guy was right to check the MS Error code. So I say this sheerly out of speculation. Worth a try though! You could get an 8 or 16 gig and it would still work.Honestly though, I'd recommend that you go with the new hard drive and XP install. It'll be much easier, and since it looks like a bad Hard drive you'll probably need another anyway. And ostrich, You must be seeing some really shitty PSUs. I've found that most of the time I get PSU problems is when it\'s a name like "generic" or "echostar" (which, by the way most computer shops try to sell me to get my business back when it ALWAYS FAILS). Other than that, I don't see too many PSU problems.Oh, and Kernel Data Endpage error happens with a bad Hard Drive (or one that has been configured incorrectly) or bad RAM. SupremeOstrich
Yeah, my experience with failing PSUs is mostly limited to people with extremely old and dirty computers. Hopefully our pal here doesn't fall into that catagory >.<
